one of the hardest things I've had to do...

I got home from work last night at about 5:00pm and got a call from my girlfriends aunt. My girlfriend had just gotten home from work too and it was very odd that her aunt was calling the house for me. As I’m on the phone with her just looking at my girlfriend I could tell she knew something was wrong. After I hung up I had to tell her that her father had just died. He wasnt sick, was only in his mid 50′s and it was a total shock to everyone. As of now we’re still not sure what happened, but he had the day off from work and after his wife (my girlfriends mom) left for work he just never got up. She got home from work at about 5:00pm and he was still in the bed.

So sorry to hear this news, josh.
That's just shocking.

I'm the bad-news deliverer in my wife's family, as well.
They always know and it never gets easier.

Best to you, your girlfriend and her family.

Wow... so sorry to hear that.
It says a lot that her family knows your strength and felt the news coming from you would be a tad bit easier to take.

Oh man, that's rough. As Furly said, it's a good indication of what people think of you that they knew to ask for your help in this. I hope your lady handles everything ok.

thanks guys... I'm at work because there was nothing I could do to help today and her family is really big so theres a lot of people around. Shes with her mom and I'm leaving here in about an hour to meet up with her over there. I'm sure no one is doing 'good' but I hope that they are doing as well as possible.

One of the biggest concerns was my GFs neice. Shes 5 years old and loves her Pepere (grandfather). He baby sat her usually 2 days a week after she got out of school so its gonna be really big for her. Shes old enough to know someone is gone, but not old enough to understand death.

Josh,I wish there was words. Times like this is the hardest part of someones life.Try to stay strong for her,but don't be too much of a "man" to cry with her as well. My sincere condolences. Bless her and her family...and you as well.

When my aunt,my mom's younger sister was murdered about 10 years ago.I got the phone call from my sister.I was the closest person to my parents house,so I knew I was going to have to be the one to tell her. That drive to their house was the hardest thing I remember ever doing in my life.I had the sickest and saddest feeling I have ever had.I'm just letting you know that I understand how hard something like this is.

Let us know if you need anything at all Josh. We are all here for the both of yous.If you can give me an address,I would love to send some flowers or a card.
