Tom Warrior from Celtic Frost sells art...

http://www.selfdeceased.blogspot.com/

some of it is cool looking and it could be cool to have a Tom G. Warrior original, but they are very pricey!!

Some of those are pretty cool, but waaaaaaay overpriced.

those 'deceased' faces for $400-$1500 seem about right. not saying i'd pay it, but that's not outrageous for what it is and who it's from. not sure if he's collectable in the art world or just because of his musical history.

a painting from someone like chris mars of the replacements will run $10k, easy. but he's got the artistic chops to get it.

THAT IS SO FUCKING STUPID. Sorry, but having dead faces as art is not right. Esp when ya put horns or upside down crosses in it.

^^^^^^^ Wow, now this is tremendous. I new of the band, but not the specific artist in the band. This is really cool stuff and the meanings behind what he does is amazing. For Chris Mars

I think they are cool too and to each their own as far as the religious aspects of it. The 'satanic' imagery isnt for everyone, but I've always thought that the 'bad guys looked cooler'

plus I think they call any cast of a person face like that a death mask. Its not like its really a cast off a dead body, its just his face and he alters it or paints it.

art is art, clevo.
(wasn't that an arty thing to type?)
it's been offending people forever.
like the ol' "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"
don't sweat it.

and yes, chris mars' work is pretty wild. it's nothing i'd hang in my house, but his technique has extreme depth (his paintings are very impressive in person) and the backstory about his brother is crazy (no pun intended).

^^^^^^ Ya, CM story is pretty interesting. It has a purpose.

The issue of the dead faces art. I understand art being art. Its all good and all, but in life, purpose comes comes into play in peoples lives and what purpose does that have? Its like back in the day I thought that JANE'S ADDICTIONS video where they show heroin use and his agony over death was cool. I thought, wow how artistic. Now I see pity and selfish gratification. This "art" is just something no one has done before and appears interesting. In actuality its terrible exploitation of the human body decaying.

That being said I understand that my critical view of it is in no way meant to influence or piss any of you off. It's just my take on what i saw with that "art".

^^^^^^ What exhibit? Was it for education? I remember one that past through Cleveland about 5 years ago or so and it was all about the human body. They had bodies showing every aspect of them internally and stuff. That makes sense. Its a learning aspect and not a hang a bunch of morbid dead faces on the wall with horns attached.
At the hospital I work at I see dead bodies all the time. I see em with organs taken out from life bank or bodies fresh from a horrible accident. I have seen 2 burned to a crisp in separate house fires. They smell exactly like bbq on a grille and I ain't lying. The most unfortunate is the young children who have passed and yes, you see the faces. It's awful and sad.
I have to take those bodies to the County morgue that is in our basement and make sure they are tagged and placed in drawers. Then they either get an inspection from the County Coroner if something is suspect, suicide, OD, homicide. Ya, they cut em up right on the tables and place em back in the drawers until funeral homes pick em up for burial or burn. It smells awful and you never forget it. It's the worst part of that job. Especially when you see a 18 year old daughter of someone you know. That happened last September and it was terrible. I went to the funeral and my buddy was obviously just tore up. I knew about it before he did as she came in around 1a.m. and I couldn't say anything to him. I wanted to call him up and tell him how sorry I was that something happened to his child that would destroy his world forever. I couldn't. I had to leave that up to those that do that thing.
Look all I'm saying is I find death really sad, difficult and disturbing. I understand some find it interesting and that is good because those people make great coroners, social workers and funeral home people, but to get pleasure from it as art is really strange to me. I have no desire to ever understand it either.

If other art got you talking and thinking about it as much as those did, there would be a lot more successful artists.

I can understand the reaction to the "death" art concept, though I'm not entirely sure why horns make anything better or worse. If it were angle wings would that bring about the same reaction?

^^^ Nope. Horns, upside down crosses, gross images, whatever, they all suck.

I don't think I ever even listened to Celtic Frost.
From some of what I see in my old Sheer Terror videos, it looked like Blake wore a CF shirt nearly every time.....
not that this has anything to do with jackshit, I am just bored at work and nobody is around to watch me at the momnent........

Morbid Tales is absolutely crucial and w/n the top 10 metal albums of all time. period. Anyone that disagrees w/ that doesn't know metal.

That being said...if you love ST I would be shocked if you didn't love that album...it's influence on Blakes guitar playing is undeniable. It's like someone else singing on an unreleased JCHE era ST album.

undeniable.
