another all covers hardcore lp...

*from the Bridge 9 news letter...

H2O has been a mainstay in hardcore and punk since their inception back in 1995 and have had many influences along the way. The band is thrilled to pay homage to those influential artists by covering their songs on the forthcoming album, Don’t Forget Your Roots. H2O will tip their hats to bands like The Ramones, Dag Nasty, Madball, Rancid, Circle Jerks, Descendents, Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, The Clash, Government Issue, Verbal Assault, Gorilla Biscuits, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 7 Seconds, Embrace, Social Distortion, Sick of It All and Warzone on this release. H2O vocalist Toby Morse commented, “This album is extremely important to us. These are bands that inspired us to start a band and who have inspired our personal lives. Also with so many young kids getting into hardcore every day, it’s good to always keep exposing them to the ROOTS of this music and getting them into some of the originators of hardcore/punk. We have all gotten to see this bands play live when we were young so covering their songs that made us happy and inspired as kids feels amazing and we feel honored.”

I will buy it and enjoy it. I know this before I even heard it.

I'm pretty much always interested in an album of cover songs so I'm curious about this one and the Skarhead one.

Here are all the details on the Skarhead album. This album is going to be amazing. I mean Paulie singing a Cindy Lauper song? How can you not love that. haha.

I didn't like H20 until Nothing To Prove, oddly enough. I think I will look into this.

I'm looking forward to both I think but H2O way more. The whole Skarhead reunion thing ain't working for me at all.

I don't even think I've listened to the Hatebreed covers album yet.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.
