Samhain reunion (again)
On Friday, October 7, at Chicago's Congress Theater, a Danzig "Legacy" performance will be taking place as part of Riot Fest 2011. At the show, Glenn
Danzig will reunite for a performance with members of his post-Misfits band Samhain, and he'll also be doing an onstage reunion with his Misfits
bandmate Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein. A Danzig set is also part of the night. In a statement, Riot Fest founder Michael Petryshyn said:
“Everyone in music has a band or a musician that changed them. For me, it is Glenn Danzig. I am in music because of Danzig, Samhain and The Misfits.
I remember being a 10-year-old when my friend handed me Danzig, and it blew me away. It was different…it was the first album for me, now looking
back, where form matched content. Soon after, I found this entire wealth of music he wrote before 1988 and I became an even bigger fan. Musically, it
opened my world to punk, metal and hardcore,” “To have Glenn perform his solo works, to go on stage with Samhain for a set and, lastly, to play
Misfits songs with Doyle will always be the one show I remember.”
Riot Fest tickets are on sale this morning at 11 a.m. EST. Other headliners include Weezer, the Descendents and Social Distortion.

The SAMHAIN reunion show in 1999 in Philly was awesome!

NOt a SAMHAIN fan but DANZIG and MISFITS are the shit.
Each aspect of the soul has it's own part to play, but the ideal is harmonious agreement with reason and control.

I went to the NYC show for this tonight. I will give credit, Danzig busted his ass playing this.
They started with about 6 Danzig songs with the giant skull banner in the background. After that, they dropped the Danzig skull to reveal a Samhain
banner with the art from November Coming Fire and they did 6 or 7 Samhain songs.
After that, another banner change for a huge blacklight Crimson Ghost. Danzig and Doyle played Misfits songs for a while before they went back to the
Danzig setup, played a few more.
For an encore, we got Skulls.
Oddly enough, one of the openers was Corrosion of Conformity.

To me that sounds really cool and I'd like to have seen it. One thing that always gets me is why go back to Danzig songs? People are there for the
Samhain/Misfts stuff.

I was wondering that too. Even more, he insisted on playing some of his new stuff which left me and the people I went with not even sure of the song
names.

He opened with the first song off Circle of Snakes and then did the single from his new album. Aside from those two he didn't do anything post-Danzig
IV. My one complaint is that he should have come back from the Misfits set and did Am I Demon, Long Way Back from Hell and Snakes of Christ to keep
the energy going. But it's his show and he picks the songs.

I saw Tank on the floor before the show started but lost sight of him once it started. I assume he spent the majority of the night in the bathroom
jacking off. Mark Unseen was sitting about 3 rows in front of me and he was pretty reserved.

Yeah. My buddy, Bob, is an insane Danzig fan so I went partly so he could see it and partly cuz I missed it when he did the Misfits set last time he
came to Boston.
