I got bored after 40 seconds and couldn't be bothered waiting for the video to buffer for a band I don't like :D

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

So there was no music? I was waiting for the music to stop which is why I gave up.

you gotta check 'em out.....some GREAT albums. Think progressive/experimental hardcore, but coming from people who were really influenced by Poison Idea & Black Flag

I hear zero Poison Idea and zero BF.
I know this new record is like a "HC Opera" of sorts and that they band has been around since 2001.
I will be seeing them next Fri with the Cro Mags so I can make a better judgment then.

I've seen them 2-3 times when I was back in Canada, never got into it. Everyone kept raving about Police 7", meh.

I can survive without liking them :D Gimme Violent Minds or Criminally Insane instead.

I haven't heard a good Aussie hardcore band in 3-4 years :|

vocally there's definitely a Jerry A influence I've always thought. This new album is definitely a HC Opera. Until I heard these guys, anything considered post/experimental/progressive HC was a bad word to me, usually done by people who were influenced by an entirely different kind of HC than the old stuff I like. I can't stand 90%+ of any bands these days that tout themselves as a HARDCORE band, whether it's the tough guy stuff or the tight pants stuff (OK, none of those bands). I think Fucked Up are taking it in a really great direction, & it took me a bit to open up to songs like the above video, but I gave it a chance & really like it.

If any of you can't get into 'em after these two videos, then I guess it's not your cup of tea, though

That 11:47 CBC clip is just an indie band with bad vocals to me really, there's nothing punk or hardcore about it.

If they took the vocals out you'd think it was Idlewild or some other British indie band.
