Terror hands down. Personal preferences on their music aside, they are one of the most active hardcore bands around and consistently manage to put on HIGH energy shows. To be able to bring so much to a show night after night is incredible.

SICK OF IT ALL
MURPHYS LAW
H2O
INTEGRITY- pre '96'
7 SECONDS
D.R.I
GORILLA BISCUITS- reunion tour. I never saw them before they broke up in 1991. That reunion show was magic
KILL YOUR IDOLS
SNAPCASE
MADBALL
UNBROKEN and UNDERTOW together. That tour was in '94' and those bands killed it.

my picks were based very heavily on the 'front man'. I just like the comedic value of Paulie, Jimmy G and Choke.

I will say that a few years ago I saw SOIA 10 nights in a row and they were VERY high energy everynight. Only thing that kinda bummed me out a little was it was the same stuff each night. As awesome as 'the braveheart' is, its not as cool when you know exactly when its coming.

I mentioned the Dayglo's as their shows are always a big fucking party. Lots of laughing, drinking, and great songs. I've seen them more times than I could count and I've never seen them have a bad show.

Murphy's Law are unbelievably entertaining. I could listen to Jimmy talk all night. They really don't even need to play music.

I've always loved Madball's show because Freddie owns the stage and he's 100% confident at all times. It takes a special kind of personality to handle a live show like the way he does.

BFB has always been hit or miss for me. Some of my favorite memories of them were shows where they were so tanked that they could barely play but somehow managed to still pull it off. They're like The Replacements of hardcore - they were either the best show you've ever seen or the worst but never in between. There was one show I saw them play in Richmond.... it was relatively small given their popularity and Ian happened to be really into it that night. I watched from the balcony and there was something really cool about how into it he was because he's such a giant man and having him jump around, run around and swing the bass was pretty crazy to watch. It will be interesting to see how it goes when Rob returns to the band. The videos of them online sound excellent with Craig playing second guitar. Let's be honest though.... they were atrocious with their original drummer. He used to fuck up left and right and you'd just see Erick peak back over his shoulder with an evil grin on like he was ready to snap the dudes stack-of-dimes-neck at any moment. Once they got Neal then things got great.

I've seen Sick of it All a few times and they don't really do it for me. They just sort of do their SOIA thing which is cool but nothing remarkable for me.

I would consider H2O to be the best rehearsed band of the genre in many ways (if you want to call them hardcore). They nail their vocal parts exceptionally well and they're all very energetic on stage and that keeps the audience's attention. Now if they were only up there playing better tunes.... haha

the latest lineup of Sheer Terror is excellent live. No youth crew jumps and all that, just pure dominance. Super tight as a band.

Cold As Life in the 90's was brutal and kind of scary. Haven't seen the lineup they play with now.

Powerhouse from California was also excellent live. Maximum Penalty is great live as well.

COA aren't the tightest band but man their show is always great/funny/uncomfortable.

I've seen Death Before Dishonor, Terror, and Madball more times than any other bands and I'd say they all are impressive on a bad day and incredible most days.

I agree that Murphy's Law is always good. The current lineup of Cro-Mags is great too.

Out of bands that I don't really like but are/were really good live...Bane, Fury of 5.

Not a Bane fan, but I caught them on the 10 for 10 tour and it was impressive. Crowd went fucking nuts.

I want to see BANE play. Never got into them unitl a few years ago thanks to this messagboard. They are one of the most played on the ipod. I dig ever single BANE release. Never got the new one yet though. big watching all the vids of them that everyone posts.
