Since I've been the comic movie guy for the last couple weeks. Here's another one for you guys. Sorry for how big this is, but it's probably
necessary.
For 2013's The Man of Steel, Henry Cavill is Superman:
That looks fucking amazing. It doesn't look like it has that cheesy boy scout atmosphere that the comics did. It's why I was never much of a fan of
Superman. I'm also glad they ditched the red speedo.
‘Do you know what a love letter is? It’s a bullet from a fucking gun. Straight through your heart.’
Looks amazing, but seriously what the fuck with the origins already. Is there a fucking person alive that doesn't know Supermans origin? You could
find some goat herder living in a cave in Afghanistan, who would be able to tell us in depth about it.
I would hope much time doesn't get spent with it...but Lane and Coster as ma and ma and Crowe as Jorel...leads me to believe we're going to get a good
40 minutes of that shit.
I just want fucking ZOD. and I want him to burn Supermans face with an iron, Van Alden style.
Looks like Nolan got tired of Batman and decided to make "Superman Begins." It looks really good, and I'll enjoy going to see it, but I feel like I
know too much of what is going to happen just from seeing Nolan's Batman films even without adding in my knowledge of Superman.
"Clark, why do we fall? So we can get back up again."
"Because he's the hero Metropolis deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him."
I can see why they want to do the origin. It's a new way of doing it. Of course, there was a whole 10 years of Superman Begins on TV with Smallville.
I'm guessing it'll be structured similar to Batman Begins though, flashbacks to Ma and Pa Kent and we'll only get Jor-El and Krypton when Clark is in
the Fortress of Solitude. They won't give us Krypton for 20 minutes are the beginning.
Either way, if I was in charge of the world, I would put a permanent ban on Batman, Superman and Spiderman origins. I don't care what spin they put on
it...it's 20-30 minutes wasted movie time at a bare minimum.
