Also Gigabyte not GB Pounds lol. Shit is on my hard drive.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

i haven't watched it for about a year, might have to make another start on it soon.

Actually just finished watching all 5 seasons again about 2 weeks ago. It's not better than Sopranos IMO...but I'd say it's a damn close second.

see, i started re-watching Sopranos again recently and there's something about it that i find a bit unsatisfying but i can't put my finger on it.
i always feel a bit short changed at the end of each episode.

restarting with the woman in a few days
can't wait.
I love the Sopranos but the wire is just a bit more realistic

Anybody check this series out yet: Idris Elba (Stringer Bell) plays this whacked out Detective. They mentioned it on Geek Time the other day so I checked it out. I liked it alot. Gets a little out there but overall very entertaining.

I started it maybe late July/early August and between after work/before work/weekends I managed to finish in about 5-6 weeks.

obviously i'll be sticking with it, but i don't feel as invested in season two as i did season one at this point. will definitely keep an eye out for the stout appearance!

funny that he was also Vice President of Northeast Sales for Dunder Mifflin

Season 2 ends up being really good...the problem is similar to Game of Thrones...where you have a whole new group of people to familiarize with in all the harbor people.

You'll also have the same issue in season 5 imo w/ all the newspaper people. In season 4 even though they introduced some new kids and school people it didn't really feel as awkward though.

But with all things Wire, the build is slow...the payoff is huge and the person you don't recognize today will most definitely show up again later.

yeah Cutty was great.
a very compelling character.
when i first started on The Wire, I used to read the incredibly detailed episode guide on the HBO site after watching each episode as I was guaranteed to miss something.
I think I'm gonna have to give the show another watch soon. Every time I re-watch it I pick up on something that I missed before and when you know where the story is going, a lot of little things suddenly gain significance.

my wife is really into reading episode guides, i'll have to dig those up and send them to her.

one of the episodes we watched last night was the one where brother mouzone's boy was looking for omar in the gar bars of baltimore and as the camera pans over the crowd, you see rawls at the bar. can't wait to see what, if anything, is done with that!

Omar is the best character in this series, Bodie was the other one I liked and that guy was good in Oz too. Season 1 and 3 were the best, 2 was awkwardly out of place and barely tied in to the rest of the series aside from the drug supplying Greek.

True on 2, I think he was just trying to explore different aspects of the city...the rest of the series couldn't have happened w/o 2 though...imagine if they would have just jumped into the next dealer, like if Marlo was in episode 1 of season 2. Wouldn't have been the same...it also helped develop the cops.

The slow burn through seasons 2 and 3 is what made the entire rest of the series shine.

Well I've got a feeling I'm gonna get mine in. Retribution let the games begin.
