Doctor Who anyone?

Anyone here watch Doctor Who? The 2005-current run. I just got done with the first series and I was on the fence for the first 4-5 episodes but then it hooked me in. Kinda cheesy, but I think it's supposed to be.

I've been watching last season on Netflix. I love the show, have for years since watching it late night on PBS.

The Doctor from 87-89 is playing Radagast the Brown in The Hobbit by the way.

for all the bbc i watch, i've never seen dr. who. the credits alone are so dorky, i could;t get past them.

SO excited that this is back on streaming, though:

i was half way through season two when they removed it several months back. i was pissed.

Been a fan since the John Pertwee/Tom Baker/Peter Davison eposides on Channel 2 in Boston (sponsored by WFNX, "Rock the Boat Radio"). I have a bunch of the old shows and all six seasons of the current show on DVD, plus the David Tennant specials. If you just finished season one, you're in for some really good stuff. Yes, it is supposed to be a bit campy. I mean, it's about an alien who travels in space and time in a machine that's disguised as a British police box from the 1950's.

Any thoughts on Torchwood (the show)? I heard Season 1-3 are good but 4 is not really... I plan on trying the first season after series 2 of Doctor Who since that is when it aired.

i loved it as a kid, Tom Baker/Sean Pertwee/Peter Davidson etc
It used to seriously scare the shit out of me.

My girl is crazy about it and has a TON of Dr Who figures in her flat.
Like pretty much every character ever as well as dalek biscuit tins and shit.

I also have two friends who were drawn to tears by the final episode of one series a couple of years back!

Torchwood is really good also. Season three is only five episodes, but it is goddamn intense. Season four was made in conjunction with the BBC and Starz. It's not as bad as it might have been, but not as good as it could have been, either. Don't fall in love with any particular character, either. The show pulls absolutely no punches and is not sentimental in the least. Basically, Doctor Who is the family adventure show, and Torchwood is for mature audiences. The Sarah Jane Adventures is the kiddie show in the group (but it's still not too bad).

There are some things that tie Doctor Who and Torchwood together, although not as much as, say, Buffy and Angel. There are little references in Torchwood to things that happen on Doctor Who.
