I drove to Indiana Saturday and have spent the last 2 days sick. Body aches, sinus pain, coughing, now I have a stomach ache. I barely ate.

Been off work sick since Friday, killing all my sick leave, now using unpaid leave.

Getting all wisdom teeth out next week, again supposedly on sick leave.

Guess I ain't gettin' paid any time soon. Trying to get friggin' assignments done.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

Spent early Saturday yard-saling (yup, I did), played a show that night. Yesterday was family day with my fiancee's folks and the new niece and nephew, then some work on the beds out in front of the house. Today was all about food shopping and lawn mowing, as well as thinking about family and friends both currently serving, retired, and gone, military-wise. Also still trying to find work.

Fri, grilled out. Saturday grilled out had a fire and made s'mores with my boy. Sunday grilled out relaxed on the patio with the wife, talked drank a couple Yuengling porters. Monday, worked out played with my boy. It was a nice weekend for sure.

I finally got to drive down highway 1. The gf and I checked out the Hearst Castle, it is absolutely amazing. Spent 2 nights at the Madonna Inn in a room that is decorated like a cave. Drank in downtown San Luis Obispo and found a great brewery called SLO Brewing. Had an IPA on a nitro line there.

punk rock bowling! cockney rejects were AMAZING!!! rancid was good but playing pretty much the same set as the other shows, but it was cool because i was sober this time. beltones seem to have a new singer, and they all looked like they were under 25, which was fucking weird. hepcat was ok. street dogs were good at what they do, but they seem to do the same big rock star stadium performance every time... but the Do or Die covers were fun.

the old fuckers in the rejects and sparrer were fucking awesome on this trip, and i expected the opposite.

Please read and, if you can, help out a friend: http://www.gofundme.com/jacobmedical.
