losing a pet

we had to have one of our cats put to sleep today. It was actually my wifes cat because she had her before we even lived together. A 10 year old Siamese named Cleo, but I always called her Chappy for some reason.

She started getting sick last Friday just throwing up and not eating and got real weak really fast. We brought her to the vet on Monday and they said it was a kidney issue, but today they called and said that the bad numbers were even worse and she was struggling to breath. We went down and they had to put her to sleep. I've only been through that one other time (with a ferret), but damn its one of the hardest things to do!

RIP Chappy

Sorry bud. Been through it once with our family cat that we had for 18 years. It was really hard on me. Not looking forward to doing it again with my two cats.

I am so sorry man.
Right before I read this I hugged and kissed my cat Doyle, who is 9.
I had to be with my gf a few yrs ago to put her 14 yr old dog to sleep...one of the saddest, if not the saddest thing I have ever done.

I am preparing for an animal holocaust in my house at some point... I have 3 cats, all around the same age and a dog that "age wise" if life span comes into play will all pass within the same year or so. All of them are healthy as of now but who the hell knows. Losing the dog will be the worst since she is a member of the family, is the most facial expressive dog ever, knows when she has done wrong and remembers for the whole night, and is just a nice cuddle pup. Sorry for the loss of Chappy for you and Jenns.

That's crazy!
Mine is a Tuxedo, hence "Doyle" from the Misfits.
Is yours?

My Doyle is jet black. The name is a dual-reference to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Doyle from the Misfits.
