Record label & Distro People - Please read....
My situation:
My band had our new lp come out on a German record label.
A box of 50 lps were sent from Germany to me in NYC on May 17th via DHL for about $70. USD.
The box arrived in NYC on May 23rd.....and is STILL SITTING THERE???
See below:
"Priority Mail International Parcels
Processed Through Sort Facility
May 23, 2013, 9:38 am
ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
International Parcels"
Why the fuck has it not been mailed out?????
The post office told me that the sender (the German label) has to call DHL in Germany to open an investigation....wtf?
The box is in NYC, I am in NYC....the label paid $70 to send the box, what gives?
Any help or insight is GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Thanks

Is it possible the post office left a notice at your place that didn't make it to you for whatever reason? I've had it happen before where I've
received a "final notice" that is actually the first notice I've seen. I would think USPS would be able to give you some kind of answer.

I'd be calling DHL yourself with the tracking number & asking them what happened, see if they can shed any info on it.
A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s
a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal
favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

Such a shitty situation.
There is now an inquiry opened by the label with DHL.
Is it normal to hold a box for nearly 4 weeks?
It is sitting somewhere in NY, at a "sorting facility".
Really hope I get the damn records.

I've had some stuff sit for weeks coming into Australia, others come through straight away. Guess it depends what sort of mood the sorting jackass is
up to that day?

Probably one of the things I miss least about the label (besides certain dickhole band members)...shipping. So many incompetant people involved at
every level of all the shipping options.
Best was the Johnny Vomit LP's those things floated back and forth between different "sorting" facilities in Chicago for 2 weeks in the middle of
summer...no idea how I got as many as I did in good condition...the boxes looked like they fell off a truck.

Sucks Mike.
We once got an Empty box that was supposed to hold 100 CHEECH split 7-inches. THe records fell out somewhere along the way, but they still delivered
the empty box and forged my signature to boot. Good thing the label had insured everything.
I'd get on the horn right away. Ask for the manager's manger if you have to. Or google the address of the sorting facility and show up there.
Good luck man.
