New music recommendations, please

I've got a big ol' road trip coming up soon, and I'm lookin for some NEW new music to listen to while I'm behind the wheel. Sofar I'm thinking about picking up the new Clutch, DKM, Madball and Foo Fighters. What else?

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

Sometimes you surprise me when you tell me that you havent heard certain bands so forgive me if you've heard them already... because you should have. They were really popular. American Nightmare or Give up the Ghost as they were known before they broke up. I only mention them because I was listening to them alot last week, and theyre fucking great.

Did you ever get to listening to 100 Demons? In the eyes of the lord is a great cd.

I dunno what else to tell you. Listen to more Mastodon.

Might I recommend some Discipline. Perhaps Rejects of Society, which is a best of. Nice Boys Finish Last features a Slapshot cover (Hang Up Your Boots). Love Thy Neighbors features an incredible Social Distortion cover, (Prison Bound) plus a shitload of other great tunes. Saints & Sinners and the Skinhead & Proud e.p. collection also come highly recommended by me. So does their live split with Agnostic Front called Working Class Heroes.

Can you tell I like this band?

Also recommended listening:

Backfire-Still Dedicated
The Matadors-The Devil's Music (great psychobilly band)
Dayglo Abortions-any of their fine albums
Bunchofuckingoofs- Barrage Of Battery and Brutality

For stuff released fairly recently the latest albums from 7 seconds "Take it back, take it on, take it over", MDC "Magnus dominus corpus" and Kill your idols "From companionship to competition" are all damn good.

For old school shit re-released there's an amazing Judge complete discography CD out on Revelation.

New foo fighters is good.

Hate Eternal - I, Monarch

I am also digging the newest Cipher - The Children of Gods Fire

The latest Dark Tranquility is good, but I still listen to "Damage Done" frequently

Deadbird - The Head and the Heart really more slow sludgy stoner metal, I can't describe bands to save my life.

New Pale Horse ep, I need to pick that up still.

I will think of more in a bit.

I'd recommend the new Street Dogs disc, Back o The World if you haven't got it yet, anything by The Briefs (I think these guys are one of the best bands going right now). Of course, maybe these two are just coming to mind because I'm driving down to Albequerque tomorrow to go see 'em both as a slightly early birthday thing for me.

Let's see, other newish shit I'd recommend would be Throw Rag, they have a great album called Desert Shores out and a brand new one that just came out this month called 13 Feet And Rising which I haven't heard yet It has guest spots from Lemmy, Keith Morris, and Jello Biafra on it too. Apparently Manic Hispanic just came out with a new one as well, those guys never fail to make me laugh my ass off, pick up ANYTHING from them if you haven't already got some. The latest Bonecrusher is really good too, Tomorrow Is Too Late s the name of it. They lost their vocalist, which really made me think it was gonna suck, but the drummer and guitarist took over vocal duties and it still sounds great.

If your into Metal at all (maybe they are Metal/Core, I dont really know what to clasify them as) Check out www.KOBALTmetal.com there a really good band. They have Jessie from Seemless on a track and they are playing the Milwaukee Metal Fest this year too.

If your into Country stuff, check out a CD called "BANJO & SULLIVAN" they are characters from the Devils Rejects, but Rob Zombie had a country singer write and perform 10 songs then packaged it as a Banjo & Sullivan CD as a movie Tie in/way to make more money. The songs are really funny and the music is pretty good in an old style silly country way.
