I would need to span at least the past 5 years to compile a top 20. Music scene has been sad in my opinion.

Other than new Carcass I'm not sure if I picked up anything new this year. I usually end up grabbing older stuff.

Jesus. This is a tough one. I'm gonna have to look and see who released albums this year. Nothing is sticking out as being all that special for me.

Ok. I'm gonna take a shot at this. Keep in mind I like "grunge" bands. I'm also including 2 albums that were released at the end of 2012 but they didn't get much time to stand out then.

10. Cradle to the Grave
9. Alkaline Trio - My Shame Is True
8. Black Sabbath - 13
7. Wild Roses - EP
6. White Wives - Howl for Sade single
5. Benjamin Gibbard (2012)
4. AFI - Burials
3. Dropkick Murphys - Signed & Sealed in Blood
2. Alice in Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
1. Soundgarden - King Animal (2012)

Man...that In Solitude. I LOVED the last album and for the life of me I cannot see how Sister has made it onto nearly every top 10 list everywhere. I'm convinced their label is paying people off...most over hyped album I've ever heard.

I cant even begin to try and put this in order but this was a benchmark year for great, not good...but great metal.

Craven Idol - Towards Eschaton
Tribulation - Formulas of Death
Orchid - The Mouths of Madness
Vastum - Patricidal Lust
Windhand - Soma
Inquisition - Obscure Verses for the Multiverse
Kadavar - Abra Kadavar
Carcass - Surgical Steel
Cultes Des Ghoules - Henbane
Exhumed - Necrocracy
Skeletonwitch - Seprents Unleashed
Bolzer - Aura
Lycus - Tempest
War Master - Blood Dawn
Bone Sickness - Alone in the Grave
Lantern - Below
Denouncement Pyre - Almighty Arcanum
Noisem - Agony Defined
Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance

This thread is telling me that I missed nothing in 2013 except new music from Welch Boys and Ducky Boys.

I think my favorite albums of 2013 are Bryan McPherson's "American Boy, American Girl" (despite not being releases in 2013) and the old No Holds Barred / Terminus City split that I had years ago, lost, and recently found a new copy.
