Saw GWAR numerous times in my teens.
what a show.
laughed my ass off during the killing parts. back in 92 they killed off all of the presidential candidates, nikki sixx, the pope, and more.

I haven't checked in to anything they've done since America Must Be Destroyed, but I'm sad to hear of his passing.

We inadvertedly supplied them with a bag of weed once at the troc thru the guy in Flipper.....long story.

Never liked GWAR's music all that much, but they were fun as hell to see live. Oderus was hilarious and will be missed. RIP

Saw these guys about 12 times up thru the Toilet Earth tour. At one point around 93/94 a buddy of mine somehow got Dave Brockies phone number (we were obsessed...we had their real names figured out way before the benefits of the internet).

We'd call him hammered on a Saturday night (this happened once or twice if I remember) and the dude could have been a total dick since we were just some random Jagermeister drowned heshers bugging him at home...but dude BS'd with us for like 30-40 minutes and couldn't have been more down to earth.

Sad whale baby.

When I was going to see them for the first time I remember somebody telling me that if I wanted a souvenir I should wear a white shirt. Otherwise I should make sure to wear black.

That's awesome, was he the Oderus persona or Dave for the calls?

Me too. Looked just like Panzerkreuzer's shirt the next day and I wore that pink motherfucker to school with pride.

Band is fun as hell.

I remember seeing them at the Electric Factory in 1997 in one of the strangest lineups ever (GWAR/Misfits/Mephiskapheles/Earth Crisis) and they ripped apart Jonbenet Ramsey and Marilyn Manson dolls.

One of the times I saw them as X-Cops I got some fake poo flung on my shirt when they sodomized the cop prop with a billy club...the next morning there was a hole melted/burned through where the poo was. True story.

I just saw a tribute picture to Dave Brockie w/o the mask and it made me think of this one Chicago show...I think it was on the America Must be Destroyed tour...

They go offstage and you hear him on the mic saying "I'm not coming back out on stage to to one more song unless I can wear a costume too!!"

A few second later he walks out buck ass naked from head to toe with nothing on except pantyhose on his head like some fucked up rabbit ear stocking cap....they did a song or two then quickly got out of dodge.
