Starkweather update from the road
-----
hello from London. THINGS ARE GOING WELL SO FAR. tHE BEST SHOWS,
PLying-wise, have been in Saarlouis, GermaNY and last night in Manchester.
There were about 2000 people at the Ieperfest but most of the shows have had
fairly small turnouts, which we expected. We've been paid, fed, andgiven a
place to stay every night and we've met some people worth talking to. This
reminds us all quite a bit of the first 5 years of the band because the
crowds have stared at us witht eh same shellshocked look we used to bget in
the US. Jan, Jan, and Geert have been absolutely amazing and Sean has been
the king of the roadies. We've actually played with
some great bands as well and the 8 of us have gotten along remarkably well
considering that this is pretty stressful stuff. I have alot more respect
for tourng bands now but I also think they're kind of stupid. You have to
be a masochist...Cheerio you cheeky monkees, Todd.

good to know they're having a good time. i was at the amsterdam show and i was already happy that there were more than 20 people there (i'd say about
50) cause i didn't have a clue how big they were here. they played an awesome show, a little short with 45 minutes but i'm glad i got to see them at
all. the crowd was pretty tame. it was fun seeing those guys in real life instead of on 10 year old bootleg videos. todd didn't look at all like the
washed up dude i'd taken him for, he seemed pretty upbeat.
setlist if anyone cares:
bitterfrost
lazarus runs
the divine art
machine rhythm confessional
murder in technicolor
shroud
i'll also be going to the arnhem show this saturday, i hope they play wilding this time.

hey shako ken, thanks for the update. i didn't know if anyone from the board would actually get out to see them. did you introduce yourself? if you
go on saturday, you should say what's up to todd or rennie, tell 'em you post on the thorp board. they'll be stoked!
oh, and take pictures! even if you have to send me the prints to scan, i wanna get some stuff online for them!
let us know!

i must say that i came to thorp as a starkweather fan because todd said he posted here. it's a good way to get some inside information on the band,
plus it's fun to read the ramblings of old hardcore geezers.
if i can borrow my friends digital camera i'll definitely take pictures. i'm also gonna attempt to record it but that's a first time thing, so no
guarantees.
no, i didn't talk to the guys in amsterdam mainly because i didn't want to bother them. i tend to freak people out quickly haha. i'll see what i can
do though.

so the show in arnhem saturday was even better than the one in amsterdam. again very few people were there. i briefly spoke with Todd, he's a cool
guy. he said the shows of the previous days had been pretty insane.
setlist:
Epiphany
Slither
Shroud
Murder In Technicolor
The Rift
Lazarus Runs
The Divine Art
here are some of the pictures, the rest can be viewed here. Duane, if you want the fullsized pictures let me know.
Todd rocking out
Rennie
Vincent murdering his bass
intl. man of mystery?
i also recorded the show on a digital voicerecorder that obviously wasn't made for that purpose. it's very shitty quality but you can make out the
songs, here's a sample: Lazarus Runs. doesn't do the performance justice though.

Awesome, Ken, thanks so much for the update. That last shot is pretty cool. These came out nice, too (below).
And yeah, if you can, I'd really appreciate it if you could put together the high resolution versions for me to download. I don't know how many live
pictures they had taken on the tour, so I want to make sure they get as many as they can. And send me a U2U with your name and contact info as I can
pass it along with photos. Thanks again.

there was another guy there who was really making an effort to get good shots. he had a good camera too. i didn't see him anymore after the show or i
would have asked for his email or something. i had an annoying automatic camera and could hardly control what it was doing (the blur in the pics
without flash is unintentional). i'll send the fullsized ones tomorrow.
