Ian Robinson from MTV is poor & in Allston, MA....

Ian Robinson the "Metal Guy" from MTV & MTV2 applied for a job at the Newbury Comics Warehouse in Brighton, MA last week. They gave him an interview and tour just like they give everyone else that applies there. The job he was applying for "CD TAGGER" pays at the most $12-$13 an hour and thats only if they took his 'star status' into account. He took the job and was supose to start this past Monday, but aparently he had applied for a job at the postoffice and he got that so he called Newbury to say that he wouldnt be taking the job. What a bummer!

I remember seeing his apartment on cribs on MTV awhile ago and he had a huge toy collection and a very good record collection. He was the host of Headbangers Ball for gods sake! Even Ricki Rachman turned that into success!

Anyone in that area keep an eye out for him. Aparently he lives somewhere in 'lower Allston' so Im sure he will be around. If your not sure if its him or not, he has a huge "Emperors Royal Guard" tattooed on his forearm as well as a bunch of other Star Wars tattoos.

The ONLY thing I've ever seen this guy do aside from MTV is a few in-house Apple promo videos. He was basically walking around the Apple store in Soho talking about how great making music on a mac is.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I heard he does have cred. I guess. I never met him but I guess he's down with some people. I have no idea, but at least he's hustling for a job.

I agree. I think its funny that he was going to price CDs for Newbury Comics, but I dont think hes a douche. His record collection when he was on cribs had some good stuff in it and I have no doubt that hes been into hardcore/punk for a long time.

nah......in my humble opinion.........douche, just because you like "hardcore" and even because you may have been around "the scene" when no one cared, does not make you instantly "cool". Not trying to insult, just think the guy looks like a douche.

I remember that Cribs Episode. He had some mad ass toys. He had every Simpson figure. He also had three Metallica band member figures and not Lars. He made it a point to show everyone that he didn't have a Lars figure. I gues he thinks Lars is a dick. Oh well...

i give him credit for sort of being the voice on mtv that tried to bring back metal/hardcore for awhile. seeing all his records and music in general made me appreciate that he was on tv tring to get something other than what was being played get noticed...sucks that his status has run out and is back to reality but join the club...

I remember when he used to get fan letters saying "why are you playing *insert shitty band* on this show".

That guy looked into the camera and said something along the lines of "You think I want this stuffed played on the show, of course not, but it isn't up to me"

It was either one of the late night shows/or mtv2 even.

*edit - that might have been after mtv now that I thought about, cause he wouldn't be able to say that on air.

funnier than any of this:
Jeff Labar, who was the lead guitar player in the glam metal band Cinderella delivered pizza to my house one night...He is a local...

I also hear one of the GWAR dudes lives nearby and makes miniture figurines in this little warehouse in Clifton Heights, PA for a living.

"You spin me right round baby right round like a record player right round right round" Cinderella?

That video always creeped me out when I was a youngster

That song sucked, I know who you are talking about now, though vague. I actually remember heartbreak station better.

just take a look at the papers
your leaders
they\'re killers
they\'re liars
what they do in your
name to make the bodies pile higher
the murders, the terror
they\'ve done it forever
as we sit band and smile
at the script they sell us
but now the victims, they\'re rising
their numbers\'s multiplying
they want their revenge for the years
that they\'ve been dying
