THE SAINT vs. THE SMASH SWEARING SHOWCASE SLAMDOWN
OK people, there has been a bit of discussion on other threads that my learned friend mr tireiron saint and myself should have a battle of bad
language on these very boards, kind of like a wwf slamdown thing, only with really bad, no holds barred bad language and abusive remarks, using a
message board as a virtual ring.
well, THORP brings the public what they want!!!
tireiron and myself are both willing to participate if it brings a little sunshine and humour into a few peoples lives. it will all be just a bit of
fun, with no malice intended towards either party.
So hows it all going to work?
This is where all you lot come in, we need some suggestions from you, on terms of scoring, rules etc.
I have a couple of ideas on the structure of the whole thing;
1. the face off will take place on a thread only tire iron and i can post on, anyone commenting on the actual abuse thread has the comment removed by
duane, use a seperate thread for comments.
2. there is start time and date, and a finish time and date for the whole thing.
3. a poll is linked to the thread, with a voting time at the end of each week for y'all to decide who wins the weeks round.
4. duane organises a free thorp shirt for us both, just for taking part and a cd of our choice if we win!!!! (shy kids get fuck all as we say on this
side of the pond)
what do you think about everyone being able to vote or maybe having a jury of 10 thorp members?
everyone use this thread for comments and suggestions and when we have it set up how everyone wants it, we will let battle commence.
what do you reckon duane? after all, you will have to be supreme judge on this.

Hell yes, this looks great. I would love to see this as an ongoing thing, but it definitely needs some structure and I think Smash has the right idea.

Are you supplying the prizes? This was your idea, after all. Dan seems to be hoping Thorp will pick up that end of this venture. While I would
certainly love to score some Thorp gear in return for layin' down a verbal smackdown, but I don't know that the powers that be around here are willing
to provide something in return for Smash and I exercisizing our foul mouths.

Well, I would have to say that if Thorp wanted to fire off a free cd or something to the winner, I am not going to complain, but owning a record label
myself, I know that giving shit away to some creep (no offense) with a foul mouth is not the first thing on my list of to do's. So, I guess I could
still provide a plate of nachos, or, since it was my idea, I could let go of some cds we have laying around the office here. Just to keep it
interesting, I send out some of the crappy demos we get as a consolation prize

A good friend of mine is from the Bournemouth area, and he lived right near and was friendly (as friendly as one can be) with the local pikeys.

You should run lt like the presidential debate, Duane asks a weekly question. It will be agreed to prior who responds first to the first question. A
panel of judges will pick the best respons from the two competitors. This colud be accomplished by Pm'ing votes to Duane? (assuming there's only 10
judges). From this point on the winner from the previous week responds first. It could be the best 4 of 7.
Just some ideas.

Jeff, that's a really good suggestion, I've been wondering how exactly this thing was gonna be structured and "debate-style" sounds great. Duane, any
ideas on your part? Are you up for being the overseer of this thing? Do we wanna have everybody who feels like it post on their choice or do private
jury voting or something else?

Sorry, I've been completely swamped, and have had no real time to think about this. How about...
- we create a forum specifically for this little contest
- within the forum, each round will have two threads: one for the actual fight, one for voting and commentary
- we'll also have a thread for nominees, volunteers, and challenges for future rounds
- each round will last one week (is that long enough for you less regular visitors?)
- the winner will be decided by the thorp board community at large (all registed users will be able to vote), and will receive some crap from us
(prize donations gladly accepted),
- should we move the winner on to a next round? we'd have to limit the moving on though though (can't have the same person win every week for a
year); what do you think? four weeks max? or maybe have a tourney at the end of the season?
Does that cover everything? Any other suggestions?
