Getting a head start on my New Year's Resolution

OR, "How I'll save $1,607.40 on bills next year," by Big Duane

About a month ago, I got it in my head that if I could save even just a few bucks a month on my different bills, that collectively, I could total about a grand in savings for the year. This is what I've done so far, and I'm already enjoying the lower bills:

CABLE & INTERNET
Called threatening to drop all premium channels, and was offered a reduced rate. Gave up nothing and still saved money.
Savings: $144/yr

CELL PHONE
Reduced plan from 700 to 500 minutes
Savings: $156/yr

REGULAR PHONE
Switched from traditional phone line to Vonage digital phone.
Savings: $180/yr

THE GYM
I quit!
Savings: $816/yr

WEB HOSTING
Combined, rearranged and closed a few different hosting accounts.
Savings: $311.40/yr

Obviously, the gym and the business expense were pretty significant, but still, cable, phone and cell totaled nearly five hundred alone. It just goes to show little things here and there really start to add up.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

well, the 'big' primarily references my height and weight (read: fat) more than muscle, so as long as i don't cut my food budget, there won't be any problems!

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.
