Enjoy The Silence had the weird video with the throne in the middle of nowhere.

I like that song.

I have been into them since I was 10. I think they are one of the best song writers in the history of song. Easily 5 five best bands ever. I will go down in a fight to defend my opinion of them. Its been the subject of many arguments among friends and some not so friends over the years. I even met them in June 1990 for the violator tour. A old frined of mine that is art director of Alternative Press magazine in clevo got us backstage and found out what bar they went to after the show. I was 14 and had many many drinks with them. They are short. They drink like fishes and nail many chicks.
Dudes from NITZER EBB were awsome too. The singer ended up in the Cleveland Hospital from taking too much acid. He freaked out.

it's like this,
in the 80's (long before emo)
there were a number of bands that in L.A. you had to tolerate in order to get laid. the smiths, the cure, and depeche mode being the big 3

there were no girls into hardcore

new wave was what all the cute but "different" girls were into

the songs are well written and catchy as hell, and they got you laid...

to a little punk skater kid, this was acceptable

Perfect.
To be honest you are very right. I was turned on to them by this girl who was 17 and I had a bad crush. Too fucking hot and punk. I never nailed her because I was too young and she ended up being mental but damn did I have a crush. She hung out with me when I skated though all the time. Turned me on to the smiths, dead milkmen, depeche mode, and the godfathers.

It was the same all over. I can't even tell you how many girls I hung out with and dated in High School were all about bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode (The Flushed Commode is what I always called that band). I have to admit, hearing that kinda stuff makes me think about being a young kid and getting a little action, but that's the only good thing about that stuff for me.

Duane, did it go so badly that you aren't gonna tell us how it was?

So the show on Thursday night was at the Garden, which is to be expected, but i hate stadium concerts. The mass exodus of people makes me a little uneasy. Anyway, DM played of about two hours. A bunch of new songs during the first half (during which i caught a 20 minute nap), then a bunch of old songs during the second half. I don't really know song names, but they did play Personal Jesus and a few others i recognized. the crowd was interesting... young, old, once goth now professional, and a few mesh shirts. lots of jumpy, screaming bitches that i could have done without.

my wife had a good time, and that's all i care about. first time she had seen them since '89. she likes music as much as me, but doesn't go to that many live events. so between foo fighters in october, this, and the pogues in the spring, there's been a lot of good shows for her.

and yeah, steve is right on about these bands.

My wife is definitely one of those late eighties early nineties new wave gals, and I must admit she even got me into them a bit, I still cant stand the Cure, but the smiths and Morrisey solo (especially with Boz Borer and the rockabilly influence) is alright.
