How does this work?

Ok, i'm a little behind on the times when it comes to technology but how do you take music off of Vinyl (or cassette tape) and turn it into a mp3?

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

It is a very technical process. They have a turntable out that hooks up to the USB to make vinyl recording to the computer easy but other than that it would take wiring a record player (or tape player) directly into the soundcard and using a program on the computer to record the audio that is coming in. It takes a bit to figure out how to do. Someone else might have a better awnser for you, but theres my 2 cents.

A guy I know from another board put together a really detailed set of instructions for this on his website. Go here and follow along. You'll need a couple of things, but it shouldn't cost you much at all as long as your computer will support it.

I got one of those turntables for Christmas, but Im hoping to get a new computer very soon so I havent hooked it up yet. One of the coolest things about it is that it has an input jack so you can plug in a cassette player and it will line in the same way the turntable does. I cant wait to get it all hooked up!

Hey Honus, which one did you get? Do you know where it was bought or anything? I'm really thinking about getting one of those.
