so I am going to move

but I don't know where

I just know we can't stay where we are much longer, ( a story I would not like to get into at this time),

but we'd like to move during the summer to not effect my daughters school and such....

so my questions are,

where do you live,
do you like it,
and how is the housing market.

I come with my own career so I'm not worried about the job market,

but how are the schools, crime ect...

I'd prefer to be about 30 minutes from the ocean, (I prefer west coast, but that's not going to happen),

and an hour or so outside a major city, (love for it to be nyc but I'm not too picky at this point)

sorry Gabe and Greg, Texas is not an option, I love you guys but I spent my 8 years in the oven, and I like snow...

but anyone got any ideas....
help a brother out ya know

I am not so poor I can't afford a good area, but my credit is just crap, so we may rent for a few until we can get into buying another house...

vegetarian....so cheestakes...not really a positive
the bad vibes, very much a positive

does meet the rest of my requirments pretty close, but I don't know if I want to stay in PA

if I did it would be a little town just outside, lower housing, and not as much crime

Chicago, Great city, great schools...best food on earth. Two different types of weather, oppresive cold or oppressive humidity.

As far as Ocean...Lake Michigan...no sharks or giant maneating things...great lakes 2...oceans 0.

Plus its pretty cheap to live depending on where you'e at. I have a two bedroom condo, paid $95 4 years ago...worth about $140 now and my house notes like $500 a month. You can find tons of two room apts for between $500-1000 depending how close to the city and what neighborhhood

Steve, we got VEGAN cheesesteaks in Philly too. Gianna's Grille. Good stuff.

Depending on where you go outside Philly housing is probably going to be MORE. We do have one of the best school districts in the country just outside Philly... Lower Merion... it's also where Kobe Bryant went to high school.

Damn Steve, I'm not gonna pry, but I remember how much you guys were lookin' forward to this move. I hope everything's OK with the family and all that. Hey, I got your snow! No ocean, but we got a river. Crime is nonexistant, school system is very good, 3 hours to Albuquerque, housing is cheaper than Austin, and I'm looking for a new bass player....

Hahaha, I know. Just thought I'd throw it out there...

Theres LOTS of stuff forsale in the Rhode Island/MA area. Pretty much anywhere in RI you are less than an hour from Providence (semi- major city) and if your in northern RI you are an hour from Boston and only 3 hours from NYC.

CT is closer to NYC, but I think its more expensive there.

Theres also North Carolina... thats where I would still like to go... I think!?

DefStar:

I live about fifteen minutes from Hershey (PA). The area is real nice. You are only a couple hours from all spots, Baltimore, NY, NJ, Philly. Housing market is pending on where you go but definitely cheaper than Philly and its suburbs. Theres good places to raise your kids in around here. The landscape is beautiful out here. The mountains are only an hour away to take your family camping or even hiking for the day. But its not a vacant lot out here. There are plenty of malls, places to catch shows (although few in direct vicinity), and theres a actually a vegan store about ten minutes from my house. As well as one five minutes directly in the town I live in. Harrisburg is about twenty minutes from me and it has a lot going on. Great restaurants, and the people are for the most part chill. I mean you get some pricks no matter where you go but its a really good place to be. I know you own your own business as do I, and since you are so close to some of the major cities, shipping really isnt that bad. Theres a UPS Store that I use frequently. If you are really interested we can talk more about where exactly I am and so on, offline. But as a family man and business owner, I do reccomend this area to you.

By the way, I've been tied up lately, I'll get that email out to you today that we spoke of previousley.

Cleveland. I live 20 minutes westside of Clevo. Good prices on houses. MAany bars and a good music scene. Your business would do good in this location. You get snow and hot summers. Cost of living is more manageable then where your at now. Many Vegi restaurants. Not too far from NYC or PA or Toledo(THORP).

The eastern shore of maryland is nice.
I think the cost of rental property is kinda high though.

Steve, I am biased here and all but how about Boston? I live ten minutes from the City, five minutes from the beach, tons of live music, great schools, AND you'll have a ton of business with the assload of Boston based bands out here..... Just a thought

I live in Vermont. Its a nice state.Great if you like the outdoors. Nice places to hike in the summer, great places to ski in the winter. Shows go on in Burlington which is about a hour and a half away from where i live. Its quiet here. The highschool i went to is a very good one, thought i dont think your kid is in highschool yet. Not sure about the house market though.

if philadelphia is a city you are thinking about being close to,
you can come to south jersey.
there is reasonable houses and good schools depending on where
you go.
You would be close to Philly, and NYC, lots of decent shores.
and unfortunately there is snow here.

one thing that is terrible in NJ is car insurance though.
