The Darkness's One-Way Ticket To Reality TV Stardom

Lyndsey Parker

According to the London newspaper The Sun, U.K. hair-metal heroes the Darkness have been approached to star in a bizarre new reality TV show called Band In A Bubble.

The program would feature the spandex-sheathed rockers locked inside a sealed capsule in London?s Trafalgar Square for a month, while they are filmed 24/7 recording their new album. The entertainment value of such a show would presumably stem from watching the band members crack under the pressure of constant camera scrutiny, ever-looming deadlines, and potential bickering between the Darkness's two Hawkins brothers, Justin and Dan.

As for what the band would gain from putting themselves through such an ordeal, hopefully the publicity surrounding the show would ensure that the resulting capsulated album would enter the British charts at number one. Considering that the Darkness's most recent album, One Way Ticket To Hell...And Back, stalled on the British chart at number 11 (and sold far less than their triple-platinum debut, Permission To Land), they could probably benefit from some reality TV exposure.

This capsule-studio stunt was developed by the Australian rock band Regurgitator in 2004, but Regurgitator will not be the stars of Band In A Bubble. Although it has not been confirmed, The Sun does report that the Darkness are considering the Bubble producers' offer.

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I do a kick as version of "I believe in a thing called love" at karaoke ;) Complete with the high notes (which I am sure looks EXTRA funny coming out of someone MY size).

With any luck they will kill each other in there and no one will ever be forced to hear from them again.
