religion and artforms

how come there is less outcry when the Catholic church wants the Da Vinci Code banned (hello Vatican, it's just a Hollywood product), than when the Muslim world cries foul over the Danish cartoons, and than when the West cried disgust over Iran's (ridiculous) anger over Salman Rushdie's book some years ago?

Hypocrisy. Sheer and utter hypocrisy. Plus about 10 centuries worth of anti-Islam propaganda and prejudice.

No one is trippin' about "free speech" in this case, but everyone flips their fuckin' wig when Muslims are pissed about the defamation of Muhammad's character in those lame ass cartoons.

Granted, the Vatican isn't calling for the death of Dan Brown(though I'm sure if they could get away with it they would, and who knows, the guy could end up assassinated if people actually started BELIEVING in his story as truth)... but getting a guy's book banned would likely squash his career. Without a doubt the Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons would both be banned.
