Well I'm gonna break up the love-in cuz I've never really liked them. They were just there. That having been said "Life Sentence" has got to be one of my favourite songs from those days. I used to have the 12", I can't even remember what was on the A-side.

Well, its this place where nobody works, and the pigs don\'t give you any shit. Everyone smokes weed and gets drunk all day. Its a place where cunts like me and you can truly take it easy and relax. Know what I mean?

Was wondering if anyone was gonna mention that... I love that album but it seems to be so overlooked. When they toured a few years back (without Jello) they didn't play 1 track off BFD.

The lyrics on all their stuff are still so relevent today, just goes to show that shit never changes.

I like DK alot, I'm a youngster and Bedtime for Democracy was the first thing I bought... loved it immediately.

The sad thing is... I started listening to them because that's what you were "supposed" to listen to if you were "punk." Which, I guess, would have made me a Chickenshit Conformist. Ironic isn't it?

Badass don't get me wrong. I find it funny, when it comes to hardcore I really am a new jack (25), so the shit I listened to when I was young was like madball/soia/all nyhc shit. DK is great but I just could never get into them as much as others. Bands like I just mentioned where tangible, touring, etc. Whatever.

DKs lyrics are educational
and that dude was by far one of the most creative punk guitarists ever.

I love Dead Kennedys, Jello's voice works perfectly for them even though it is more than a bit odd. He's beyond annoying and whiny in person though. I ran into him at a record convention a few years back and couldn't stand to be around him for more than a couple of minutes. I also find his solo stuff/spoken word records to be pretensious and boring, but he'll always be ok by me just because of his work with the Kennedys.

I love his spoken word stuff. I remember driving like 5 hours to see him live back in like 98 or 99. I love the Lard albums, and the ep with DOA is still one of my favorite records ever. I'm a huge mark for Biafra. Do I believe everything he says? No. But I love the man anyways, especially because he never joined in on the Dk reunion.

I don't really see the guy as pretentious at all. He'll be the first person to tell you that you shouldn't take what he says as gospel. The last spoken word of his I saw he said somthing along the lines of "don't take my word for it...go out and get a second opinion...get a twelfth opinion if thats what it takes..." hes trying to create a dialogue and get people thinking and thats more than what 99% of people in "punk" are doing.

The guys pretty straight on as I see it and him telling the DK's to shove their sham of a reunion up their ass pretty much makes him all the better.
