How much paid vacation do you get from work?

I get 2 weeks plus 5 personal days. It goes up the longer I work here, but its takes awhile. Ill get another week after ive been here for 8 years (if I havent slit my wrists yet).

There are guys that have worked here long enough to have 5 weeks of vacation plus the 5 personal days, but I think that takes like 22 years of working to get.

The weird thing is we dont get our base rate for our vacation checks. We get a check thats based on our average pay so we get overtime acounted for. The union also has a small claus in the contract that says that when you take your first vacation of the year you get a $50 vacation bonus (they call it beer money) and you get a $15 bonus for each additional vacation you take. Its fucked up! I make more ON vacation then I do working sometimes.

I started with 3 weeks. After one year I got 4 weeks. That's where I am now. I've been here for 4 years, so next year I think Im eligible for 5 weeks of vacation. Im not sure I'd know how to spend all of that vacation though.

social work stuff. I get 5 personal days a year too. Some agencies that serve the mentally ill give their staff 7 weeks vacation to help prevent burnout.

We work for ourselves (painting, remodeling & contracting).
We can "take off" when we need to but it's never for more than a week straight.
We don't have many employee's and there's always ALOT of work to do.

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

Same here. Vacation is a loss for me. Luckily one of the guys I subcontract with will give me pay for one week.... sick days are never paid, personal days either.

No work, no dough.
