REALLY funny eBay auction description

SLAPSHOT - Back on the Map, Step on It & Same Mistake

Heres the actual description the guy included in his auction.....

Here's a band I could never really get into... SLAPSHOT, from Boston. I'm auctioning two 12 inches, BACK ON THE MAP & STEP ON IT, and one 7 inch on blue vinyl featuring the songs SAME MISTAKE b/w MIGHT MAKES RIGHT. I never liked this band, so in this case I'm gonna auction off all 3 of their records at once. These are the only 3 Slapshot records that I know of - of course there may be more out there somewhere, but as I've already said, they weren't really my thing, so how would I know? When my friend dumped these records on me, all I could do is shake my head and say: Dude, what were you thinking? His response: Please, just take 'em, please, before someone sees them in my record collection. Since then, and because I'm such a good friend, I've been hiding these in my house for over 10 years. I now feel compelled to auction them because it seems their overall, almost mystical cruddiness is seeping out and spreading over some of the records I actually enjoy. For example, if you were to look through my collection and hit the SL's, it would go: SLADE, SLAPSHOT, SLINT. Alright, all 3 are questionable in their own right, Slade 'cause of their weirdo glam movie Slade In Flame, and Slint 'cause well... the talkie vocals and, c'mon fellas, did we really need a reunion? But Slade and Slint both deserve a slot for musicianship, as well as for the scope of history. For the wandering visitor to comb through my records and find Slapshot in the mix... I've got nothing to offer. Like a Dog Ate My Homework excuse, I just stammer: Uh, a friend gave those to me!! So why did so many people fall into the Slapshot thing and actually purchase their records? I've thought about it, and I've come up with a few theories. 1) Boston was tough. Whether you liked the This Is Boston Not LA comp or not (released in 1982), you gotta admit that it's a pretty important punk record, with a great title, a great cover, and it totally put Boston on the map for punk. Boston was something to be regarded, perhaps feared -and for old punk, the fear was part of the attraction. So, there once was this comp that celebrated Boston, Slapshot was from Boston, Boston was tough, and therefor Slapshot was tough. 2) Slapshot was on TAANG Records. You may have had other releases on Taang (like Jerry's Kids, Gang Green, early Lemonheads, DYS, The Freeze, The Dickies, and of course Mission of Burma) and maybe you tried a sampling of everything and eventually stumbled upon owning something by Slapshot. That could've happened. 3) Maybe you got tired of certain wimpy straight edge records you were buying (circa '89) and you wanted something a little more In Your Face. Slapshot would've certainly delivered in that regard. Since I'm a little bit lacking in my knowledge of Slapshot stats, yet somehow find myself stuck with these records, I asked a friend who was a little more in the loop what he thought about the band. He had this to say: quote -Slapshot was a revolving door for ex-somebodies of the Boston scene like ex-DYS, Negative FX and SSD guys at various times. I am pretty sure that they started out as a bit of a joke as some bitter late-20?s guys who hated the teenage sporto thing going on at the time in the NYC ?burbs and Connecticut. But what they became... well, you can decide that. And I think they have something like 5 records out and may or may not be still occasionally playing (shudder).- end quote. (This, from a guy who just threw away the first Skrewdriver LP - before Skrewdriver took that tragic white-power turn- cause he got sick of making excuses for it, and was afraid of who would buy it if he listed it on Ebay.) As a frequent purchaser of straight edge records back in 1988, I somehow managed to avoid actually buying anything by Slapshot because 1) money was tight - mom and dad were buying me food, not records, so I had to save all my dough from my job at Peoples Drug Store if I felt the urge to blow some cash on punk rock, naturally I was forced to become more selective. And 2) When I finally got around to hearing Slapshot, I thought the vocals sounded too much like Grover from Sesame Street. Now, to be fair, there are other famous punk vocalists who also rocked that style... I'm sure you can name a few .... but that alone would always make me reconsider a purchase. There are two vocal styles I can't stand, the Grover/Fozzie Bear thing (almost as if Frank Oz was grabbing the mic) - and the monotone shriek that came along much later with thrashy grindcore. I never understood either style. Anyway, these records are in good shape and are just begging for a good home. They're pretty unloved right now and will remain that way as long as they stay in my house. As always, buyer pays for shipping and MUST contact me to arrange and agree to shipping fees. PayPal only this time around. Thanks and good luck.

What a retard. Read her descriptions of the other stuff she's selling. They're kinda funny in their own way.

No I didnt. I messaged about them because I dont have Step on It on black vinyl (just havent picked it up yet) and Im looking for different versions of Back on the Map, but that one has the light blue labels and I already have that one. I also already have the blue Same Mistake 7", I would pick up an extra black vinyl Same Mistake, but Im all set with the blue.
