I agree.

Dude, yer the only person I know that spends more time being depressed than I do. That's not good. Go to a rub and tug and have a good time. I'm sure it's cheer you up. Have the girl recite Slapshot lyrics the whole time yer there.:P

Seriously. If its a problem go to your doctor. There are other options to medication. Get your doctor to refer you to a pschologist not a psychiatrist, even if you end up going to a psychiatrist and getting a prescription you will benefit from seeing a psychologist. I know you're edge Honus but don't fuck with depression man, if it gets bad enough its very hard to come back.

i really feel for you dudes when you talk about this. i can't even imagine what it's like. sure, i have the occasional bad day (or week), when i feel completely overrun, overwhelmed and under the gun, but i don't think it's anything that would calssify as depression. i hope i'm not coming off like a dick; i'm not trying to gloat... i really do feel for you and the people in my day to day life that struggle with simliar issues.

I've been seriously thinking about making me a doctors appointment lately....nothing seems to make me happy anymore (besides pussy & beer)....I'm always stressed out and worried about shit....I'm fucking depressed and I think I have some kind of social phobia...I just hate being around crowds of people,I'm staying at home more than ever now.Maybe medication can help...idk

Sounds like anxiety issues. But again, talk to your doctor. Its also good to talk about it, here, to your loved ones, someone you trust. Just being aware of my issues allows me to recognize certain behaviour patterns and triggers etc. You'll be stronger for it. Sometimes just knowing whats up can eleviate a lot of the stress.

Might I suggest you not listen to SOD's "Speak English or Die" album.

Particularly the song Kill Yourself.

I was serious about the rub and tug thing. It can really cheer you up. I have serious problems with depression but health professionals have told me that, because of who I am (long story) that they can do nothing for me, hence my light-hearted approach to it all. I find my happiness in small doses. It's the little things that make me happy, such as buying new music or dvd's. It's also why I'm broke. I would recommenc a couple of stiff shots of whiskey but you ain't digging that, so I will suggest finding the little things that make you happy, and build on that.

Go out to a restaurant you really like or catch a funny movie. It definetly is the little things that matter. My mother and I both have PTSD issues from a long ordeal with a monster of a husband/stepfather so we have had to deal with some awful depression. I first started having suicidal impulses around eight years old which is a fucked childhood memory to have. Counseling helps a bit, but its hard finding the right counselor, I bounced around between four or five until it got too expensive. If ya really need someone to talk to send me a u2u, blowing off a little steam to someone usually clears my head up. Listening to the Ducky Boys song "Pride" always makes things a little less gloomy too. :)

I can totally agree. I also think this was very well put. Professional help is a great avenue and I highly recommend it. It has helped me in the past. Honus, the most important thing is to take care of yourself Bud. Try anything to shake the funk. You can do it.

I'm sorry you feel like shit. Welcome to my world. Would an original press DYS 'Brotherhood' help? If you think you might be bipolar, try reading 'An Unquiet Mind' by Kay Redfield Jamison or U2U me for some other suggestions. I've been miserable for the last 29 fucking years.

I know exactly where you're coming from Honus and you're right, it sucks, more than anything else I know. I've been at that stage where you'd glady trade a winning lottery ticket just to feel "ok" for 10 days straight, all you can do is try to get through it the best way you can, hopefully with your sanity intact at the end.

One thing I found which helped me a lot was a herbal anti-depressant which is more or less as effective as the prescription stuff but with basically zero side effects, called Hypericum. You can buy it online or from "health food" type shops as St. John's wort. Check out loads of info on it here http://www.hypericum.com/toc.htm , obviously talk to your doctor before trying anything like that, but it's pretty cheap to try a 3 month course of Hypericum and you should see an improvement in that kinda time scale. If you want any more info send me a u2u anytime.

Dunno about you, but my past problems with this shit is mainly why I don't (or can't!) drink or take drugs anymore, they'd be way too likely to end up taking me back to a time that I was lucky to get through once.
