How do you store your records?

for the first time in years, i actually have the majority of my vinyl back in my possession, but i need a more protective and accessible storage solution than a couple of stacked boxes.

Milk crates for Lps, cardboard boxes for 7"s. I got the boxes from a record store years ago, exact size for 7"s. Plus they come with lids.
This reminds me, I need to pick up another milk crate.

I wish they had Milk Crates that were tall enough that the vinyl didnt stick out so you could fill and stack them.

My LPs are mostly in old style wooden crates, but they are beat bad! Others are just leaning against the wall.

Boxes for my 7"s, and I have a shelf in a bookcase that has my LPs. It's starting to get full though.

all of mine are kept on a shelves.

side note for 7" storage boxes, goto your local comic book shop, and get a comic box, they are the exact width for a 7" record, and they come with lids.

those of you using shelves... how wide are they or are they just super sturdy? I'd like to go with shelves, but weight is an issue.

comic book boxes is a good idea, but i kinda like the old metal 45 cases from back in the day.

i saw a few different shelving systems on amazon but they only hold about 100. kinda nice cuz you can put the record player on top of it, sort of a showcase for your records

one on the left is what i used to use worked well, as long as you put some "L" brackets for reinforment, now its used for CD storage. think it is about 14" deep.

and i have two of the units on the right that i store my records and stereo gear in now.

i dunno brian, those boards look like they're bowing... may be time to flip 'em! adding extra L shaped brackets for support is a good idea, though.

a buddy of mine got a huge, wall-sized shelf made out of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood for his records. not only is it solid wood, but it's essentially designed like a bunch of 14" cubes, so no lone length is very long, and it's super supportive.

it's not like i have THAT many records, but vertical storage is imperative in my book.

as a side note, those DJ boxes you see at the bottom of my pile are rugged as SHIT! i've checked them as baggage on a few flights and the records have made it through 100% safe and sound. they're not cheap, but they are TOUGH.

yeah, most of that bowing happened before i re-enforced it. it's been holding steady since then. worst case scenario, i get some new boards in a few years. no biggie

Mine are in a milk crate... the few I have. The rest is on CD... did I mention that jewel cases are the bane of my existence?

The resulting rarity of SAE sized milk crates is my only real gripe with the metric system (metric crates don't fit 12"s)
