R.I.P. 'Mama Ramone'

Joey Ramone's mother, Charlotte Lesher, died Saturday after suffering a heart attack in her home in Queens, New York, according to the late punk icon's Web site, JoeyRamone.com. Lesher was 80. "Mama Ramone," as Joey called her, is survived by her son Mickey Leigh. Donations to the Joey Ramone Foundation for Lymphoma Research will be accepted in lieu of cards or flowers: P.O. Box 1107 Cooper Station, NY, NY 10276.

RIP

I am glad to see this is out. It would be a shame not to hear of such a important woman in our scene. It may sound corny but she gave birth to the beginning of punk. Or at the very least someone who helped it become what it did.

Sadly I couldnt find anything about it in any legit news outlets. I got that whole write up off of JoeyRamone.com

Howard Stern was just talking about Joey, but it was just about someone possibly making a Bio-movie about him. He didnt mention (and is probably not aware) that Joeys mom died this weekend.
