Bridge 9 takes issue with 'Youth of Togay'
This was posted as a Myspace bulletin. I know that some people on here dont like Pat FNS and maybe dont like his bands, but he is correct when he says
that parody is protected by law. The 'Fair Use' act is what protects things like the Howard Stern Show, Saturday Night Live, MAD TV and MAD Magazine.
I think its also very 'un hardcore' to be pissy about someone 'ripping you off'.
Heres the bulletin....

Bridge9 Records and Have Heart have filed a Copyright Violation to Myspace in regards to YOUTH OF TOGAY's Myspace page. Myspace in turn has deleted
their page without investigation.
Their complaint states that YOTG's cover of Have Hearts "The Machinist" and the parody art of their album "The Things We Carry" have been illegally
used. YOTG had recently posted the new track "The Gaychinist" from their upcoming single "The Dongs We Bury".
Cover songs, rerecorded by YOTG, and other parody artists are protected legally by The Fair Use Act of 1976 (more information can be found here: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html ). This law protects artists, cartoonists and musicians. High profile artists like Mad Magazine, Weird Al
Yankovic and Bansky survive and are protected in their artistic en devours by this law, as is YOTG.

level, where enough people know your band, that making a mochary is funny. Thats a pretty good achievement for the band. And we laughed when weird al
did 'fat' against michael jackson's 'bad'.

I listened to the Pure Volume tracks. I haven't heard the Youth Of Today Originals. I thought the YOTG was good.
I have no idea who Pat FNS is but I find this stuff pretty funny.

HAVE HEART is one of those SXE bands that takes themselves way too seriously. I love the band and have contacted them a few times and they never even
reply. I will check out this Youth Of Togay stuff.
I mean Gayrilla Biscuits does their thing and you don't see Gorilla Biscuits filing lawsuits and shit.
Bridge 9 is way too pretentious.........

He definitly is part of YOTG, but I think at the very begining he played all the instruments and sang. Now its more of an actual band.
They did a cover of LAST LAUGH by Slapshot thats really funny too, but I dont think its online yet.

really? i've never spent any time on that borad, but from what i've heard, i always got the impression it was like the wild west - do or say whatever

I used to lurk the B9 board for a while, but never bothered to post unless it was in their trade forum. When I put stuff on ebay recently I posted a
link to it on the trade forum. Their server is really fucking slow, and now there seems to be lots of spam threads. Blah.
