Whats your favorite 'snack cake'?

I'm talking about Hostess, Drakes, TasteCakes or whatever other regional brand you may have.

Ive recently found that Drakes Cakes 'Ring Dings' are one of the greatest things ever!

Hostess 'Choclate Zingers' are pretty damn good too.

I almost worked a part time job for tastykake at a depot near me. loading up the trucks at night and stuff. one of the guys had the route through kensingtona nd parts of north philly. he had different tastykakes on his truck that were more marketed towards people from the latino communities. they had tropical fruit flavors and stuff. they were sooooooo good, but youd never see them in wawa or anywhere.
chocolate juniors and tastypies.....kandy kakes......coffee cakes....mmmmmmmm

SWEET SURVIVAL

Tastykake driver who nearly lost his life says he's a 'fighter'

By DAVID GAMBACORTA gambacd@phillynews.com

KYLE WINKFIELD saw his buddies from Tastykake talking about him on the 5 o'clock news yesterday and had to laugh. It was a rare light moment for the soft-spoken Winkfield, who had spent the previous few days staring his mortality in the face.
"It's unbelievable," said Winkfield, 20, as his smile slowly faded away. "It's a shame that this had to happen for me to get on the news."

Winkfield was shot once in the chest and critically wounded in West Philadelphia last Thursday as he handed his wallet over to a 15-year-old pointing a gun at him.
The bullet tore into the side of his chest, fractured a vertebra and bounced around, hitting his liver, gall bladder, kidney, pancreas and intestines.
The Tastykake independent-sales distributor lay next to his blue-and-white truck at 62nd and Vine streets, certain that he was going to die as he slipped in and out of consciousness.
"I've never been shot before," he said. "I thought I was dead."

But Winkfield believes he was saved by Officer Madeline Mazie and a group of quick-thinking cops who placed him in the back of a police wagon and rushed him to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Doctors at HUP had Winkfield in surgery for more than five hours while family members, Tastykake officials and politicians huddled together, cried and prayed.
"It was like an out-of-body experience," said Winkfield's mother, Anita, 49. "I felt like I was watching the news. I couldn't believe this was happening in my life, to my son."

The days that followed were a blur. Friends and family prayed over Winkfield as he lay sedated in intensive care, hooked up to a ventilator with tubes snaking in and out of his body.
On Monday, Anita Winkfield said, her family's prayers were answered. Winkfield was awake and alert and able to get out of bed. His condition was upgraded to stable, and he was moved out of intensive care.

"It seemed like forever," Winkfield said, adjusting an oxygen mask over his face. "It was a rough couple of days, but I feel great now. I'm alive!" Winkfield will have to spend another few weeks in the hospital and then undergo about three months of physical therapy before he can return to his job. He still has some lingering numbness on the right side of his body. "Whatever it takes, I'll be out there," he said. "I'm a fighter."

His spirits were further lifted on Monday by the news that cops had captured his alleged shooter, Carlos Petty, of Kingsessing. The District Attorney's Office said the teen will be charged as an adult with robbery, attempted murder and a host of other charges.
Petty refused to give up his alleged accomplice, who remains on the loose, said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives.

Winkfield said he harbors little ill will against the teens who nearly took his life. "I don't know their situation," he said.

"I mean, they're smart enough to know right from wrong. They should be disciplined. But is that the only answer?"

Winkfield would rather see teens learn a peaceful message from his shooting. "The kids need to stay in school and do something positive," he said. "There is a better way."
As a single mother, Anita said, she reared her two sons to see that better way, keeping them occupied outside school with sports and maintaining a strong presence in their academic endeavors.

Winkfield went to live with his brother Karl, 30, in Delaware and attended high school there to avoid the dangers of his West Philadelphia neighborhood, Anita said.
He returned about a year ago, itching to pursue a lifelong dream of owning his own business.

"My long-term goal is to get into real estate," Winkfield said. "But then another opportunity came along."

In September, Winkfield became a charter member of Project Fresh Start, an inner-city entrepreneurship program aimed at minorities that was launched by Tastykake, the Allegheny West Foundation, the Reinvestment Fund and state Rep. Dwight Evans.

Through the program, Winkfield and several other minorities were able to buy and operate Tastykake delivery routes in the city. Winkfield said he was proud to be a part of the program and thrilled to learn the ins and outs of running a business.

He also cherished the smiles he'd receive every time he'd give out a free Tastykake to a neighborhood kid. In West Philly, his penchant for giving out sweets earned him the nickname "T-Man."

Winkfield said being robbed "was always in the back of my mind," but he declined to go into the specifics of what happened last Thursday.
Instead, he focused on "my angels" - the cops who rescued him as he bled on the street.

"We're just glad to see that he's alive," said Officer Mazie, a six-year veteran. "It's a very good feeling. I told him we wouldn't let him die."
Mazie, her partner Officer Brent Conway, and officers Brian Freas and Mike Kuziak worked to get Winkfield off the street and into the hospital when they feared rescue vehicles wouldn't arrive in time.

Mazie stayed with Winkfield in the operating room and had an emotional reunion with him yesterday.

"We hugged. Both of us cried," she said. "The whole story is amazing."

If I fail math, there goes my chance at a good job and a happy life full of hard work.

I don't know who makes them but those small donuts that are ribbed and covered in glaze. It has a orange and white bag that they come in. those things are the greatest.

I think you are out of luck on Chocodiles. Unfortunantly I beleive they have gone the way of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pudding pies and are no longer in production. :(
