Well, it's official ladies and germs....
I am going to Iraq for a tour of duty. The final details have not been hashed out, but I should know sson when to expect to deploy and such. I will be
one of the Navys many IA's (individual augmentees) sent to help relieve some of the stress on the Army at this point. I will be going to a civil
affairs unit, meant to bolster community relations between the military and the indigineous population. You know, assist schools, provide medical
relief, rebuild infrastructure, things of that nature. I am pretty nervous to say the least as I don't know what to really expect and I am dreading
leaving my wife and daughter for the long amount of time. At the same time I am looking foward to going there to help make a difference to those most
affected by this war, the people who live there day to day and just want some semblence of normality. I am still in a state of shock as this was
highly unexpected....I guess that's all for now, but I wanted to tell you guys. I will keep you all up to date on as much as I can while still
maintaining operational security.

Wow, I came back this morning to all of this! Thanks so much guys and gals, You really mean alot to me. I don't know right now how the internet,
e-mail, telephone thing will work over there? I have heard you can get in contact fairly easily these days though so i should be able to get info to
you here from time to time. I will definitely be watching my ass over there, I have no intentions of leaving my beautiful wife and I'll be damned if
I'm going to miss my little girl growing up! I find out Monday when exactly to expect to head out, I will definitely keep everyone here posted, I
called my dad and mom last night to let them know, it was sad to say the least. My wife is scared, pissed, anxious, all the bad feelings and none of
the good ones. It's tough

Good luck over there man. Be safe and be careful. Nothing but respect for the soldiers since they are serving our country.
When a buddy of mine was over there we were able to exchange emails since a guy in his unit had access to a laptop. Don't remember the specifics but
however it was, he said a few emails a week about stupid shit I was doing was great since it got his head out of the desert for a few minutes. So if
you can pull it off, giddy up.
