Time for another ink thread

Finally got started on my Frankenstein leg piece on Thursday. We did about 3 or 3 and a half hours work from the knee up.

and since I never showed it off, here's a couple detail shots from the final session on my sleeve.

We need to touch up a couple spots on it (yellow is a bitch and it fucking hates me), but it's finished otherwise. The Frankie piece is going to go all the way down my leg and be in full color. It's based on some Basil Gogos art for anyone who knows who that is.bb

First off... that Frankenstein is amazing!! I have a Frankenstein & the Bride design that I hope to get started once my 2 current projects are done.

Secondly... is that lightening bolt from the Bad Brains LP cover?

_______________________________________________

All my stuff was done by GLENN DUMMER who is currently working at 'Sunny & Shears' in Wawick, RI. He is looking for a new shop to work out of, but thats where he is for the time being. I cant recomend him enough for custom work or a design you already have drawn up! I honestly feel like there is nothing that the man cant turn into amazing art on someones skin!

I have an appointment today to get more work done on Leatherface so I will post an updated picture later!

MY FIRST..... (cover art from a comic called "Strangers in Paradise". The bottom rows of bandages were done later so thats why they look a different color in the picture. Its all healed and all the same shade now)

MY SECOND.... (the original 'Crimson Goalie' BACK... OF... THE... CALF!)

MY THIRD.... (The man, the myth, the legend... Leatherface!)

MY FOURTH... (Heart & Tribute to my grandparents. This was drawn freehand and all tattooed based on the sketch he did dirrectly on my leg)

Wow!!

Saint: The tattoo looks awesome. I've been waiting for you to post pics so that I could see.

Honus: Your tattoos are awesome too ;).

I can't wait until the day comes when I can save up enough money to get some nice ink too!

Have you ever noticed how crayons are a lot like M&M's? All the colors tend to taste the same.

Thanks for the kind words folks. There will definitely be updates as we progress with the leg. I'm very excited to see how it will come out in the end.

It's cool to see all the nice work in here, I'm really diggin' everybody's stuff.

Honus, no the lightning isn't a Bad Brains reference, although I like that idea.

Tire Iron, what did you guys go off for your Frank? It looks more like Glenn Strange as Frank rather than Boris Karloff, which is cool cause everyone gets the Karloff version. It looks awesome!

Nah, it's Boris, he's the only real Frankie for me. We based it off a painting done by Basil Gogos (if you haven't picked up his book yet I HIGHLY recommend it) and there will be a LOT more to this piece before we're done. We're integrating some monster pin-up girls and it will be done in Basil's awesome style of color.

By the way, this is being done by Roger Seliner at Your Flesh Tattoo here in Durango.

I don't have that book, but will be picking it up very shortly here. Very cool stuff.

I want to get this Frankenstein & the Bride on the inside of my left calf (on the other side of the 2 girls wrapped up)

And theres going to be a 'haunted house' under it thats actually the haunted house that was at Rocky Point Park, which was a big ammusment park in RI that I used to goto as a kid.

Im gonna need some small space filler on my other leg to blend the Heart, Leatherface and the Slapshot logo together and Saints yellow work gave me the idea to do a Bad Brains thing and have the lightining bolt go through all the open spaces! :)

This is a Frankie paniting I got for $50 at a old record/collectible store in RI. It had been sitting there since I was a kid and I finally asked about it and bought it. It was done by a RI artist in 1977

I remember you showing off that painting before Honus, and it's still awesome. As for the lightning bolt idea, be forewarned, apparently yellow is the troublesome color for tattoos. I had always heard people talk about all their trouble with red, bad reactions, color falling out, and so on but I've always done great with red. When I started getting this one done I started hearing all the horror stories about yellow and sure enough, my yellow caused me more problems than any other tattoo I've ever had. I have big holes that fell out and look like burns right in the middle of it. It itched really bad while it was healing and scabbed up, which is another thing I've never had happen. Also the ink made me bleed like mad during the session and for several hours afterward when I rarely do more than see a couple spots bubble up for a second.

I think most of the tattoo reactions have to do with allergies to specific metals in a given color (though not sure what's in red or yellow that fucks up so many people). Probably best to ask the tattoo artist or, if you're so inclined, a dermotologist before using those colors.

Though, after saying that, I noticed Honus and Gabe both have red, and Gabe has yellow. Perhaps more evidence for my comment? (For the nerds like me, this is called a "fixed effect"... damn, only four more years of school before I can be a normal human being again and able to afford more tattoos).

Please read and, if you can, help out a friend: http://www.gofundme.com/jacobmedical.

The red has oxides in them. basiclly RUST. thats the part that fucks you up the most.
Almost all of the reds i have even used on people have ended up with reactions.

The artists I work with told me that there's something about the mineral make up of yellow that causes the reaction I had. We didn't get into specifics as far as what that make up actually is, but some of them have had the reaction themselves and they've all seen it happen to a lot of people.
