Tom Waits

RV has the him listed in her profile.

I mentioned I never heard him but know he has been around for a long time, but I never gave him a listen.

So last week I watched CONAN OBRIEN live in San Fran. TOM WAITS was live. WOW! Interesting and strange but pretty fucking cool.

dude has a LOT of records, and i think they encompass a wide range of sounds; i'm not that familiar with his whole body of work. anyway, i like the crazy vocals, and this recor has 'em. check out the samples on amazon.

I remeber ALTERNATIVE PRESS back in 1993 or 94 hyping the one called BONE MACHINE. Is that any good?

Bone Machine and Black Rider are my faves. Sometimes they're a bit quirky, and other times they're flat-out bizarre. Gotta love it.

Bone Machine is really good, but my favorite Tom Waits will probably always be his very first one - it's just an amazing album.

Check out Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards. Mostly B sides and stuff... but it's great. 3 discs worth. Tom's an interesting dude to listen to.

I was gonna post up something about this same album. I fuckin' LOVE this one. He's got a lot of great records, but the first two discs of this set have some of my favorite songs from him. Tom Waits is amazing.

bone machine is pretty cool, really interesting record. i lean toward his 70s jazz period as my favorite. check out nighthawks at the diner or blue valentine

I'm gonna have to check out this Orphans: B, B & B after you guys saying it's so good.

I love some of just about ALL of TW's albums, but song for song, nothing has ever topped Closing Time for me

Did anyone ever catch a show called "Fishing With John" that had John Lurie of the Lounge Lizards taking random people out fishing with him?

Dennis Hopper, Willem Defoe, Tom Waits... tons of crazy people.

Tom Waits put a fish in his pants and then released it back into the water.
Crazy dude. Awesome musician.
