Dear Epitaph,

What happened to us. We were so close thru out the ninties. It all started with no name bands such as Pennywise and Rancid. You even had NOFX and their wonderful albums. Then in the late ninties, you took a new turn. You signed and released The Dwarves, H2O, Vision, and Madball. I was in heaven. No mix tape was made by my hands without several Epitaph artists on it. I was in love. Much of my money went to you even though I was on the street team and still got shit free. Sadly, we have parted ways since then. I have tried to keep in touch. But its just not the same anymore. Maybe I've changed, maybe you've changed, who knows. I just wish we could recapture what we once had. It will never be the same again though. I still wish you much success and many summertime memories playback in my mind. *sighs*

...Ok, I feel better. What the fuck are labels thinking working with complete shit like this...

Damn straight. MyOwnWay you are my favorite "poster" today because you mentioned "mixed tape".

There were so many nights I spent trying to time out the best mixed tapes. It never worked out perfectly.

Long live the mixed tape.

The 90's were all about Epitaph, Fat Wreck & Victory. Now its all crap.

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

I used to work for Red... they distributed Victory & Epitaph. Epitaph used to be our #1 label back in like '99, with Victory waaay behind. I don't have access to numbers anymore but it's pretty obvious that Victory is way ahead of the game now and blowing out tons more cds than back then. If Epitaph is putting out shit like that Vanna band, they're obviously trying to get a piece of that action. This band just screams "Victory band".

Epitaph is trying hard to get a piece of that mainstream pie... the only one of their bands I've recently seen on MTV is Converge (I don't care how influential people claim they are, I think they're awful). They've gotta do something to combat the Victory infomercials.

The only thing that keeps me from hating Victory (besides some of their employees being really good people) is that they put out two of this year's best records so far... All Out War & Comeback Kid.

The new Comeback Kid album is awesome and really caught me off guard, was not expecting such an awesome record. I know most people on here hate them, but Converge is awesome. And I

looooove All Out War, but "Assasins In The House of God" didn't live up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, good album but not amazing by any means.

I think I own maybe 5-7 Epitaph releases, mostly Bad Religion stuff. Never been a huge fan of the label.

Parkway Drive signed to Epitaph, they are definately trying to get the catchy metalcore trend while its hot.

The last good album from the label, aside from Parkway Drive which is a Resist Records band?

I originally caught them by accident, I was at Hellfest '04 with No Redeeming Social Value and Comeback Kid was on right before them. I was like "who the fuck is this band, they're great".

I thought Wake The Dead was amazing and the new record is 100 times better than that, singer change and all. Definitely very high on my list of favorite bands.

CBK... Turn it around had a some good songs. Enough to make me want to check out Wake The Dead. That had some good songs on it. This new one. Its ok. This new singer guy sounds just like the old one. Off the new one, Industry Standards, is probably their best song.

All I can say is shit happens man.
Look at Victory, hell, look at REV!

Im not the biggest fan of B9 bands, but at least it is a 99% HARDCORE label since it's inception and I love them for that.

Good point... Rev went down the tubes big time. Do they even still put records out? I wouldn't know!

Rev has become a haven for the gay pride crowd.

Yes. They've given up the rainbow flag and now use the Rev logo as their call to arms.

Its tough for me to lump Rev in with that crowd of Epitaph, and Victory. Rev even at their worst still released, 'where fear and wepons meet' which I am a huge fan of. Also in the past year or two I've started to appreciate 'In My Eyes'. Whom were also around during that phase. Rev is at least trying to release more Hardcore nowadays. Plus RevHQ is one of my top distros for Awake/Strong so I have respect for them. So maybe I'm just bias.
