Abacus Recordings shuts down

Abacus Recordings has officially ceased to exist. Portions of the one-time Century Media Records imprint will now be folded back into Century Media. Launched in 2002, the label was originally headed by Century Media co-owner Robert Kampf. Roughly two years ago Abacus and Century Media split, with Kampf choosing to relinquish his portion of ownership. Details regarding the latest arrangement between the two entities are scant, but it appears that certain Abacus bands will now be brought over to the Century Media roster. In recent years Abacus has released material by Sick Of It All, Ion Dissonance, and Sworn Enemy, among many others.

Damn. the recording industry is rediculous. I hope this doesn't fuck SOIA or even RIGHTEOUS JAMS.

That was quick.

And yeah, Sworn Enemy has a new album in the can. They're on Century Media for the rest of the world if I remember right so if Century Media absorbs the roster the changeover shouldn't be too drastic.

Hell ya. They had posters for IGNITE and SWORN ENEMY at a many shows, clubs, and record stores. Much mroe than you would ever see from them before. I thought this label was going to be the IT label from the releases but hey whatever.
