XGames Big Air Final - Jake Brown

Dude does a fucking 720 over the gap and falls 50 feet after he gets to the vert wall... holy shit. Then gets up!

I saw this last night. That was crazy. Ddue was amzaing at getting recovery and making his landing count. He did everything right. I have no idea who he is but i hope he is ok. I got ot start watching these games more. They do some cool stuff. That ramp was huge.

25' ramp + 15' of air. damn.

i'm surprised at the trajectory. the distance, horizontally, from thepoint of vert to where he landed on the flat is far. i fully expected him to land on the transition and just slide it out. not even close. my man landed on the flat, plain and simple.

His fucking shoes went flying off dudes! Watching that in slo-mo is painful. He's young though, from what I understand. Those youngin's just bounce back like nothing happened at all.

did skate, but i just think that its a battle of what can they do next type thing. i like the technical stuff that they do on the street courses and even the regular vert. this is just a chance for them to do something huge based more on elevation than actual talent....

I don't know dude, takes alot of ability to twist like that... not to mention balls.

My favorite part is when Tony Hawk's all "his board went all squirrelly," I haven't heard that term in ages. That's just how long it's been since I've hung out with skaters. Especially one's from CA.

I agree it takes a certain degree of talent and definitely courage, but to me the bigger they make the ramps, the "easier" it is to pull off tricks that would otherwise be impossible. it's fine, i just don't really care to watch it. i like the more traditional events. this is just the evolution of these games and the sport in general.

This is the first time they used this ramp and contest to my knowledge. Shit seems like it was added just for people to get hurt...and look, the Xgames are getting huge rankings from this shit and there have been quite a few injuries from this event.

some pro doing a switch triple nollie heelflip to backside darkslide on a street course isn't marketable.
the general public is not gonna pick up a paper and read that story, nor will the local news include it in a highlight reel.
people just don't get what they see.

now, flying...flying people get.
you show the average fat football watching fuck a clip of some dude flying through the air, be it in a moto, bmx, showboard or skateboarding competition, then they're gonna take notice.

Interesting choice of words, barc0de. A lot of skaters still don't consider what Rodney Mullen does 'real skateboarding'. They often argue that it's impratical. It must be a holdover mentality from those 80's freestyle days where dudes just skated in a circle all day.

Personally, I believe Rodnet Mllen's board control is unmatched.
He may not be the most versatile (equally good on vert as street, for example), but no one has as much control as him.

awesome vid, i fucking idolized mullen and guys like per wellender when i was a kid. the freestyle guys invented street skating for sure. i was always way more into that stuff than vert skating. i'd take mullen over hawk anyday.

That is the most insane slame I have ever seen in X-Games. I still have no idea how he walked away from that. He is lucky he landed on his back, if he landed on his front he would have died for sure.

I agree with the Mullen talk on here, he is one of them most amazing skaters ever, and anyone who thinks that what Jake Brown is doing is not "real skateboarding" is out too lunch. This is just another way to progress the sport and bring it to the masses. These athletes deserve just as much money as any NFL or Soccer fruits if not more and stuff like this will get them that moeny.

I skated from 1988 to 1992. Loved it. I was not ass kick ass as some but I kept trying. Really go tinto hardcore/punk from it so I have fond memories and watch this stuff as much as I can on tv.
