Darkest Hour - Deliver Us
Inhuman - Last Rites
Against - Loyalty & Betrayal
Parkway Drive - Horizons
Stout - Sleep Bitch
Through The Eyes of The Dead - Malice

A lot of people ask me what kind of music I like. I love "soul music". My "soul music" isn’t a style, genre or niche. It’s music that is genuine. It’s a painful lyric, a dirty bassline, it’s a harrowing vocal, it’s feedback, it’s an anthem, it’s a love song, it’s anarchy. I’ve got my personal favourites but in the end it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from... so long as it’s good and it's real.

5. Against Me! - New Wave
Could have been the next "Dookie" or "Nevermind". Maybe it still will be. Excellent songs. And too short to get boring.

4. Bruce Springsteen - Magic
Still growing on me. A good Bruce album doesn't reach its full maturity level for about a year to two years. I'm still absorbing the last one. Luckily they are timeless and will stay with you forever.

3. Bright Eyes - Casadaga/Four Winds (get the LP and the EP for 5 extra songs)
This was my favorite CD for most of the year. You gotta get the "Four Winds" single too though cuz it has 5 extra songs that aren't on the album. All of them together are pretty mind blowing.

2. Angels & Airwaves - I Empire
This band goes over the heads of a lot of kids. Lyrically its perfect for someone at my age. Musically they sound like a mix of U2 and pop punk. Very ambitious and I gotta give the guy credit. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. He hit the ball over the fence with this one and the last album alike.

1. Death & Taxes - Tattooed Hearts and Broken Promises
This record has already had a profound effect on me. I just can't accept shitty lyrics anymore unless its gonna be background music. This album has made me look at other bands I used to like and realize how shitty they are. I can't remember the last time an album really raised the bar and cleaned the slate like this one but its all for the good. Check it out.
