I only read about it but from what I can gather, is he laid it out there and basically said, "Look, this ain't going to be easy. We are fucked right now so get off your asses."

I do not envy his position. He came into office with a fucked up economy. The difficulty for him is people have such high hopes for Obama, and as hard as he might try, he can't fix everything. Many people seem to think he's some kind of saviour that's going to come in and fix the whole country with a wave of his hand, while in reality it's going to take years.

Obama is a master of the speech, but I still ain't convinced that he is nothing but just that. Slick Willy could charm your pants off but he was as crooked as they come. “That’s why today, I’m pledging to cut the deficit we inherited by half by the end of my first term in office.” He knows he's already got it locked down for 2012, gonna shuck and jive the people for a solid 8.

If our economic system was balanced, between capitalist and nationalized enterprises. I could get behind socialized health care, power and water, and even to a limited extent the big 3 auto cartels. But financial institutions, consumer products, and especially information and communication services should never be touched.

My biggest beef with Obama is his ideas for a civilian defense force:
"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."- Straight from the horses mouth.

This is a scary idea, I don't like compare to modern day politics to that of the National Socialist party, as it seems like all to often people just blurt out someone is a Nazi because of differing views. The idea of a well armed and funded civilian security force is much to close to the Brown Shirts of Hitlers early rise to power.

Besides the abuses that are possible domestically with a civilian defense force, it seems like it would allow for easier abuse of the military on the international stage for promoting economical and political agendas of big business. I don't think it is that far fetched of an idea that lobbyists would be more inclined to push for the misuse of the military for profit if another entity was assuming the primary responsibility of the military which is national safety.

same for me when i first started searching for that quote you posted.

it seems like there are SO many online media outlets either 1) pushing an agenda or 2) striving for attention (read: ad impressions) that it's increasingly difficult to find reliable sources.
