Sweet

Jason the Magnificent - 6-2-2010 at 09:54 PM

def could have looked worse. still can't believe the movie will be that good...but the costume is actually kind of cool looking.

DaveMoral - 6-2-2010 at 10:43 PM

That's pretty dope, though I have a hard time believing that's the outfit he's going to be sporting in WWII. Looks too Batman Begins for the 40s. At any rate, that's the Ultimates Cap if I ever saw it.

spyderdog - 6-3-2010 at 05:35 AM

it kinda looks like what robocop would wear around the house on the weekend while doing yard work

not impressed

XHonusWagnerX - 6-3-2010 at 07:43 AM

should he have the wings on his head? I'm torn... I'm glad he has the A on his head, but I kinda like those silly little wings he had.

Discipline - 6-3-2010 at 12:03 PM

Looks better than I expected.

I think it's hard to be impressed with any design. Cap is basically the cheesiest superhero ever created. That costume couldn't possibly look particularly impressive on a person not matter what. It is what it is, a super corny US flag outfit.

I have a hard time envisioning the movie and it not being corny, frankly.

spyderdog - 6-3-2010 at 10:26 PM

good point

tireironsaint - 6-3-2010 at 10:51 PM

I give it a resounding meh. Completely underwhelmed by this. While I kind of agree with DaveMoral's statement about the cheese factor, I have to say that I think Shazam/Captain Marvel has him beat as far as overall cheesiness goes. If they ever get around to turning that comic into a movie it's gonna hafta be done super campy style just to turn that to its advantage.

Jason the Magnificent - 6-4-2010 at 12:26 PM

Can you imagine little styrofoam wings on that helmet?

I think they've done the best with what they had to work with. I don't think they're going to get any more practical looking for a movie. They're stuck with trying to make him look "practical" due to them all tying these guys together for the Avengers flick and set in a wrodl already created by IM and Hulk movies.

AICN has Thor pics up now also...Imagine a CGI Hulk, Iron Man, Cappy and Thor running around in a movie that isn't straight to video...they have a real limited palate to work with.

Jason the Magnificent - 6-4-2010 at 12:30 PM

Changed the named of this to avoid starting multiple threads on the same basic stuff.

Jeremy Renner from Hurt Locker is now Hawkeye...

"Renner will play the bow-and-arrow-carrying hero Hawkeye, who, while not one of the initial members of the team when it was created in the 1960s, became an integral member soon after when the misguided villain switched sides.
[EDIT]
Renner will join Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as War Machine."

Johnny_Whistle - 6-4-2010 at 01:47 PM

I can't believe they're going with Chris Evans as Captain America. John Hamm would have been a great choice. They need a guy who's a bit older than the others, because Cap was around long before them. Evans was decent as the Human Torch, but I don't see him in this role at all.

I can't believe Marvel would let the same actor do two majorly different roles. Not like the Fantastic Four never saw the Avengers.

Johnny_Whistle - 6-4-2010 at 04:05 PM

Well yeah, there's that too. It's a wierd choice, definitely.

DaveMoral - 6-4-2010 at 04:13 PM

I think it's mostly because FOX made FF, and there's rumors that the rights to FF have reverted to Marvel and they are going to do a total reboot.

Jason the Magnificent - 9-8-2011 at 12:54 PM

Sure these will look better on screen and not in broad daylight...but christ these look hokey. Captions are kind of funny though.

DaveMoral - 9-8-2011 at 04:38 PM

I don't think Cap's as big as he was in The First Avenger. Which, by the way, was friggin awesome. Best superhero movie of the year IMO.

ShawnRefuse - 9-8-2011 at 04:48 PM

caps suit in first avenger was a millllllllion times better though. They made fun of the one that looks close to what they end up with here. Not liking the suits.

Jason the Magnificent - 10-11-2011 at 12:45 PM

trailer up!

BDx13 - 10-11-2011 at 02:28 PM

think downey's gonna carry this whole film?

Discipline - 10-11-2011 at 02:32 PM

I really hope it's good. The trailer looks promising.

I hope it doesn't rest on ScarJo...

DaveMoral - 10-12-2011 at 08:26 AM

Stark's line to Banner is awesome!

lifeisabitch - 10-12-2011 at 10:51 AM

I'm glad they got a good actor to play Hulk. There for a while I was worried if Hulk would even be making an appearance....
the first few seconds could be have been from any action movie/transformers though...

DaveMoral - 5-5-2012 at 09:23 PM

Hands down. The best superhero movie yet.

Unashamedly a comic book film. It was awesome. Packed house, everyone cheered throughout.

Jason the Magnificent - 5-5-2012 at 11:50 PM

Seeing tomorrow...but better than The Dark Knight?

clevohardcore - 5-6-2012 at 12:14 AM

Parts were filmed in Cleveland. Not because we are awesome, but because we look like a war zone.

The Dark Knight is a great movie, but it's hard for me to call it a comic book movie or even a superhero movie... Batman in those films isn't as much like his comic book counterpart and those films have made people mistakenly believe that in order for these characters to work on screen you have to steer clear of the source material and be somewhat ashamed of the roots.

The Avengers was not at all ashamed of where it comes from, and the plan from Iron Man to The Avengers was amazingly realized... especially as it regards priming the audience for increasingly outlandish shit. Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk are basically extraordinary situations in a normal world. The ante was upped with Thor and Captain America, bringing in the mythological and extraterrestrial... and the Avengers just goes full bore with it all. And it was amazing for it. And costuming was not shy about comic book origins either.

As a film it's probably not better written or directed than The Dark Knight, or even what will be of The Dark Knight Rises, but as a superhero comic book movie? It's a superhero comic book come to life. With the reluctance to embrace the more outlandish stuff in even Batman, I cannot say the same for Nolan's Batman films.

I wish Green Lantern had been a better film and had been used as a springboard to introduce a shared universe for the DC/WB properties and lead into a Justice League film. Sadly, it wasn't. And with Nolan as the overseer on future projects relating to Batman, and the current production of Superman, I don't see a shared universe and ultimately a Justice League film coming to life. If they do Justice League it will stand apart from any other films starring heroes there-in.

Discipline - 5-6-2012 at 11:21 AM

Can't wait to see The Avengers. Looks amazing.

Jason the Magnificent - 5-6-2012 at 05:01 PM

Just got back pretty fucking amazing. Still don't think it tops TDK, but it's damn close.

sippers - 5-7-2012 at 07:18 PM

A certian someone will make the next one handsdown the best comic book movie ever...

DaveMoral - 5-8-2012 at 11:03 AM

Yeah. It's too bad WB/DC dropped the ball on a Justice League film because they could have gone with a certain character that was created before that "certain someone" who is a rip off of said DC character...

Now it would just seem like a rip off.

Discipline - 5-8-2012 at 11:58 AM

Why are we talking in code?

Far from a Batman expert, but any of the stuff I have read (handful of graphic novels and some short run series when I was younger...maybe those are the storylines I just gravitated towards) has been darker and more in tune with Nolans interpretation of the property. We've had several versions of Batman now between the TV show and the previous movies, most of which border more on camp than character.

I understand your point but you're dealing with a mortal vigilante (regardless of some of of the more fantastical villains and gadgetry) vs a Marvel universe where everything is pretty "comic book-y". Each of the two properties referenced have been interpreted, in my opinion, to their most true form in the recent series.

marvels certian some is way harder than dc's certian someone in my book..i hope the sequel has the death of a celestial being storyline or the gems...im leaning toward the gems which means the celestial being will be involved maybe even a surfer..

What? No one is harder than Darkseid! No one! .... except Superman.

Discipline - 5-10-2012 at 12:30 PM

I hate Superman.

Jason the Magnificent - 5-10-2012 at 01:08 PM

Best part of that Superman movie is going to be Michael Shannon as Zod.

DaveMoral - 5-10-2012 at 04:17 PM

I'm really curious about what they are doing with Zod, because all the set pics I've seen of him he is wearing a motion capture suit. Which means whatever he's wearing it's going to be a CGI battle suit from hell.

Jason the Magnificent - 5-10-2012 at 04:26 PM

Wearing some robe/cloak-y thing in those.

Colin - 5-11-2012 at 10:32 AM

saw it in 3D at the premier, first 3D movie I had seen. It was good, great effects, Scarlet had a nice ass, but for all the hype it wasn't really as good as it was talked up to be. I'm sure the next one will be better, I know this was more of an introduction, but for being over 2 hours long I expected more. I'm also not a real big comic fan. & for some reason I can't stand Robert Downey Junior's Iron Man character when he opens his mouth
