Voodoobillyman - 3-1-2007 at 12:59 PM

Both very good flicks!

gavin - 3-1-2007 at 01:01 PM

the part when jay adams shaves his head in the mirror.....

i remember that feeling
just breaking off with your past and past friends and entering this whole new thing

BDx13 - 3-1-2007 at 01:01 PM

Yeah, for the most part. I think there were some cameos of original members here and there? It's been awhile since I've seen it. Well worth watching though.

Your fast!

BDx13 - 3-1-2007 at 01:09 PM

that's why i never saw the movie.
i've been looking at the real skaters since i was a kid.
some i've even hung out with.
just seems too weird watching actors play people you're that familiar with.
i dunno. i'd probably check it out based on the recommendations of you two, though.

gavin - 3-1-2007 at 01:10 PM

check it out
its not so much about the skating as the relationships between all of them

Discipline - 3-1-2007 at 01:29 PM

If it helps BD, Stacy Peralta wrote the movie. It was fucking awesome. I have both the movie and the documentary on dvd.

thedog - 3-1-2007 at 01:44 PM

good movie.

i just watched a behind the seens thing about the movie too.
most of the actors actually did their on skating, and they had to learn
to skate on them old boards.
Besides the four main kids most of the other kids were actual skaters tho.
i thought all the actors did a great job, but Heath Ledger was real good.

funny part....
Tony hawk playin an astronaut and falling off the skateboard.

JawnDiablo - 3-1-2007 at 01:47 PM

i need to check this out

defstarsteve - 3-1-2007 at 03:40 PM

the sold the idea to hollywood
so stacy decided to make the documentary before the movie came out so the real facts could be told before the fiction fell in

most of the film is pretty good
from a skaters stand point better then thrashin
but still hollywood

and some of the skate parts were done by the actors the other shots were done be stacy and a bunch of the real guys from back then...

I enjoyed the film, but the doc is 1000% times better
best part of the film is trying to pick out all the real skaters from the actors...
in the bonus stuff it will tell you, but if you know them you can do it with out

XHonusWagnerX - 3-1-2007 at 03:53 PM

Ive seen both and thought they were both great. The movie is such a damn sad story!!!

defstarsteve - 3-1-2007 at 04:05 PM

the real story is more fucked and sad then the movie
lets just say Jay is back in jail on some bullshit and is still broke

CR83 - 3-1-2007 at 04:30 PM

I own the movie. Bought it without even thinking. Very good. I love that shit.

I could never skate. It was so tough.

Discipline - 3-1-2007 at 04:38 PM

I couldn't skate either. I sucked so hard. I tried my ass off every day, but I really sucked.

BDx13 - 3-1-2007 at 04:42 PM

defstarsteve - 3-1-2007 at 05:08 PM

I try to skate everyday, but work gets in the way
don't get me wrong my knees and ankles are fucked but there is jsut something about
I can't stay off the damn thing

BDx13 - 3-1-2007 at 05:41 PM

as long as i can get on, ride down the street and ollie (not necessarialy over anything, mind you), i'll be happy. and i can do it, but it hurts. i was serious about the arthritis. 32 and i have arthritis. wtf? of course, it probably wouldn't be as bad if i lost 50 pounds...

BKT - 3-1-2007 at 06:32 PM

I have skateboarded my whole life and been in the Action Sports Industry as an athlete and a biz man and I fucking hated the doc. I can only listen to a bunch of washed up geeks talking about how the started everything for so long. Skateboarding would be what it is today with or without you guys, get over it.

The movie was really good, I enjoyed it a lot. The end when they are in the pool skating almost brought tears to my eyes. Almost.

Discipline - 3-1-2007 at 11:21 PM

I remember Mike Muir talking shit about how a few of the people, particularly Jay Adams mom, were portrayed in the movie as he knew them all and was friends with them all. His brother Jim was one of the original Z-Boys.

joe - 3-3-2007 at 11:44 AM

skate or die

morgan - 3-3-2007 at 03:16 PM

Anybosy here who is into skating I would highly recommend you check out longboarding.

Dude, you're such a downer half the time. Sound like you need to get over yourself a bit.

Also, I know alot of the pool stuff in the movie was done by Peralta and Alva. Alva did his own stuff and Peralta did his. They stunt doubled for the guys that were playing them... weird huh?

JawnDiablo - 3-4-2007 at 01:06 AM

i just added both movies in my nexflix cue
i love skatin stuff
reminds me of bein a kid and not givin a fuck about anything

Yep

JawnDiablo - 3-12-2007 at 07:46 AM

I watched these this weekend.
I watched the doccumentary first.
I loved both. The ennding of Lords was kinda sad.
And yeah MBV, the scene when he is shaving his head in the mirror was pretty intense.
I'd reccommend both.
