iron maiden also turned me off years ago when i read an interview with the singer guy saying how much he hated "punk" and how he hated "moshing" at
their shows
he came off as such a hard on that i can never even think about them withouit thinking about that interview

Steve Harris had a great quote used in American Hardcore(book) about how he hated that early Maiden was compared to or accused of being punk
influenced. Somthing along the lines of punk being a silly self serving fashion show and how they couldn't be farther from that.
